I dont get this why he is upset. He can just enter the tournament like everyone else if he wants to, without beeing invited. He got 3rd at the single most stacked tournament of the year in MLG Dallas, he has won several smaller tournaments aswell as Socal LAN. What has Madfrog, tarson, morrow, lucifron or thorzain accomplished lately? This isn't about who deserves an invite, its about who is a big name and who isn't, Painuser is clearly not a big name for the Dreamhack tourney admins. Madfrog got invited because he is a legend. Thorzain was NOT an invite, he qualified. Are you seriously comparing small online cups to major offline events? I guess whatever make you look correct, right? And why arent you mentioning painusers MLG DC and Raleigh result when you mention a 9-12th place for lucifron? Do you not know what go4sc2 cups are? 1024 player tournaments with euros top top players participating. Just because the prize money is not as big doesn't mean the games count less against high quality players. And you actually think i wrote the wins down myself? lol. There are these lovely sites like http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/sc2-international/playershttp://gosugamers.net/starcraft2/rankingsI'm not saying painuser isn't as good as the others or better. But he hasn't proven AS MUCH that he can consistently do well over and over and over against high quality players. I would say beating several of the very top EU and US players in several MLGs is way bigger than participating and doing well in a EU only online event vs scrubs up until the playoffs. A stacked offline tourney vs online play is like day and night nd if you don't understand this I can't help you. And I'm just calling you out for citing incorrect facts to backup your argument, you missed out on a bunch of results. Doesn't matter if you didn't write them yourself, you didn't care to check if they were complete. To add, what i checked quickly, many of those "wins" from the weekly cups etc are against some not even "top" level of players. Not to diss anyone, but i mean, where is Invite for Root players like Qxc? FOR SURE deserves an invite. They could've even asked chinese players to attend there. None aren't in GSL and they dont have any tournaments to attend meanwhile. Or Select. No tournaments, no GSL and for sure deserves an invite. To my knowledge you had to send an email requesting an invite to get one. So before you go on about a list of names that could have been invited, make sure those names actually applied in the first place or your whole rant is rather pointless. Quite a few of the guys going to the BYOC could have easily been invited instead of those invited though. Well, yeah i don't know how it goes, so you are right. But sounds ridiculous that team like Dignitas wouldn't ask Select to be invited or QXC sending an request to the DH staff. The prize money is ridiculously high. Of course there might be something that prevents them going. But imo DH made a mistake when not asking the players themselves(if that what you said is correct). Chinese crowd to cheer for chinese players in a "huge" tournament? Seriously idiotic. Also stands for the best players possible who are out there. But anyway, some people there really doesn't deserve a invite, but who knows who really tried to get the invite.
Yea I agree with you completely I just think you had to apply, although I could be wrong. It's a pity we might never know who got denied invites for the current invite list. I mean surely the guys going to the BYOC applied and some of them are far more deserving than the current list.

come on man, it was stated above. You had time to apply for invite until 15th of November or so. Select was busy with GSL qualifiers at that time. Same with QXC you dont know anything about the reasons why he didnt go, but just for the sake of complaining you are crying here now. Neither do you anything about the Dreamhack staff and how they really handle those invites. And even then, Dreamhack is a Europe based event. It's great when people from outside Europe come, but you can bet that Dreamhack staff will prefer to invite Europeans if they cant make a clear decision between a european and a noneuropean

I don't really see why wouldn't you want players from around the world to play in the largest LAN event there is. I bet sponsors are more than pleased to see more viewers on the event stream etc. When you try to invite the best players who are able to attend, that gives you more viewers (especially countries like China, Korea etc) if they can make it. More advertisement for the sponsors.
And no, i don't know why QXC didn't go. But why are you saying i don't know how Dreamhack staff handled those invites? You just said it was stated above, you had to apply for the invite. Guess that is the way DH handled the invites then? (and as you can see, i apologized for being wrong there first)
And no, im not trying to cry or complain here. I'm just discussing how they could do these things differently and how i see it myself. I'm more than happy to have an tournament with this kind of player setup. I have nothing against it, vice versa.
Still doesn't change the fact that there would've been players who deserved the invite more than some did.
But anyway, thats how i see it. DH does these things their way, i would do them differently. Shanti~

It's an invite tournament. Therefore you cannot complain about not getting invited, since its their tournament. I'm sure the reason they invited the other people is because they're more popular in Europe and that's their target audience. I think.

About the round robin rant by iNcontrol...
It's set up just like the FIFA World Cup Tournament, and they have been doing this round robin elimination for God knows how long....it's one of the reasons the world cup is so exciting. France losing to Mexico, Cameroon losing to Japan, or Spain losing to Switzerland is not good for the favored teams, but it is fun stuff for the fans.
The good thing is that the top 2 teams from each 4 man group qualify to the next round...then it's a BO3...
I think that's fair.

A round robin should not be bo1 in Starcraft EVER. This isn't FIFA World Cup. This is Starcraft 2. Bo1 should NEVER be played.

its starcraft, not football.
they should probably start playing bo3 in the football worldcup beginning from the round of 32 too, eh?
imagine it!
3 90minute games in a row, awesome! just like starcraft handles it

In general:
You north americans are naturally biased to fellow north american players because you run into them at tournaments and practice with them etc. Therefore they are "names" in North America.
Europe of course has it's own scene. Some of the players you've never heard of have been performing again and again in tournaments like ESL Viking Cup and what not. For every player that is "known" in North America and not known in Europe, there is at least one player "known" in Europe that is not known in North America.
That's just how it goes and it's kind of stupid to think that just because you haven't seen someone play they must be awful. I'm not sure of the quality of the "DH on tour" qualifiying players but I think it's kind of a joke if North American players think they should be awarded automatic invites just because they've performed in MLG.
