Not making a qualitative analysis on anything, but aren't you allowed to say that a person is overrated without being better than them? I mean, I can say that Derek Jeter is overrated without being a better baseball player than him, and nobody makes anything of it, right? Commentators and players do that all the time. | ||

The difference is that you're not a pro player. Idra is saying one of his peers is overrated which speaks volumes about himself. You're just saying that player X is weaker than player Y. When a professional says another professional is overrated, it seems to imply that that professional is unimpressed by their peer's ability. If they are unimpressed, it stands to reason that they, someone with the same career, would be on par or better than that person. Idra tends to say everyone is garbage. Either he is also garbage or he thinks he's better (less garbage) than the person he flames. This is what earns him critiques, because he has flamed some very notable players. | ||

I think that has less to do with Idra's ability to call out overrated players and more to do with confirmation bias. Every player in Sc2 has undergone a period of underperformance, more or less. If you wait long enough, there will be a series of games which could be construed to imply someone is overrated. It doesn't mean they were overrated when the words were first uttered, though. | ||
