Alright, I'm sorry but I'm going to respond to this, even if it is a troll, because I'm fucking tired of comments like these.
First off, "shits on" other tournaments? What? I was shitting on the matches themselves, not the tournament. You're the one attaching it to and blaming the GSL for the poor matches (for some reason), I'm not. Go back and listen to the episode. I even stated the finals at the Arena were anti-climatic (or agreed with people who said that). Was I shitting on MLG, the company who employs me, by doing this? No.
Secondly, I am an MLG employee (trying) running a show while attempting to not show MLG bias -- not ideal, but hey, I manage. Nick and Dan obviously hype the matches they cast up because that that is their job -- they are paid to make the games exciting and do a very good job. The rest of the cast and a majority of other pro players / community figures both said the same thing: the GSL finals weren't all that exciting.
The reason we spent so much time on the MLG Arena is because I WAS THERE and can formulate a lot of questions / themes / storylines based on my experiences and watching the matches (as well as CatZ). The reason we didn't spend time on Assembly is because:
A) I didn't watch it at all because I WAS AT MLG
B) iNcontroL and Tyler didn't seem to watch that many games (not their fault, not blaming them, they're busy as shit too)
C) before you say GET SOMEONE WHO WAS THERE it is very hard to do so due to scheduling
There isn't enough time in the day for me to be able to watch the entire tournament, talk with people from the event, and formulate some interesting topics to talk about. So, instead of boring people about generic 'finals recap' I decided to focus on the biggest storyline to come out of the event: Stephano getting second in another huge tournament and is he the best foreigner at the moment.
Also, the reason I let "others do all the talking about it" is because I DIDN'T WATCH IT OR WAS NOT THERE. Why or how is that so hard to understand? I could give my thoughts on it but it would be uneducated, super generalized, and overall not worth saying. I'm sorry if you have a sense of Swedish patriotism in regards to the tournament and want us to discuss more about it in the future, but to be honest the MLG Arena was one of the most important events of 2012 thus far (more important than Assembly) because it was a test of something that had never been done.
If you don't believe me, go look at how much drama the PPV announcement stirred up. Keep in mind that I'm not trying to shit on Assembly what so ever -- it was an awesome event, so don't even start that -- but if you don't believe the Arena was more important, as a test, then I question your ability to think critically.
Looking outside this episode specifically, the reason we talk about MLG primarily (and the NA scene) on the show is because its what myself and the rest of the hosts are working with on a day-to-day basis. Due to the time zone difference, it is very hard to have a European on the show. In fact, prior to the show I asked Thorzain and Grubby to come on to talk about Assembly results (as well as MLG, obviously), but both were unable to attend due to last minute request.
"Well then plan better."
Sure, I can definitely do that, but the schedule at the moment of everyone on the show is very erratic. Anyways...
We do our best to cover the entire global scene and I personally will be trying harder in the future. Sorry for this rant, but I got ticked off and felt like I needed to say something, even if it was a troll, because I get this a ton in PMs with much harsher wording.

The only issue I have with "MLG bias" is when you bring MLG employees on the show, you can't ask them hard hitting questions, so it is basically just fluff PR for them.

They tried hard hitting questions but MLG employees just "get it" too well so it doesn't really work out like you would want.

yeah could go either way, stephano has a great sense of humour and likes to joke around and troll

I wouldn't be surprised if he just honestly didn't know what SotG is. He doesn't really seem to read the forums or anything, and it doesn't run at times when he'd see it in the event listing or whatever.

it probably was top 3 code s/open seasons ever, but that doesnt make it good lol. Other than jjajki/leenock, Nestea/MKP, and fruitdealer/rainbow... all the other finals were blowouts (even FD/Rainbow was 4-1)... so yeah it was probably top 3... but it was still a shitty series, just AWESOME for DRG fans ^^

"Well then plan better." Sure, I can definitely do that, but the schedule at the moment of everyone on the show is very erratic. Anyways... We do our best to cover the entire global scene and I personally will be trying harder in the future. Sorry for this rant, but I got ticked off and felt like I needed to say something, even if it was a troll, because I get this a ton in PMs with much harsher wording.
Hey hey, Sweden got nothing to do with this.
On a sidenote Assembly is in Finland not Sweden.

Just like Stephano! You should get him on the show, no problem with schedule then!
Anyhow, sotg is just superb the way it is, as an european, I dream of someone launching the same kind of show over here - with euro players (wish I had the skills and hardware to do it myself), maybe it'll come someday (or you just start a franchise!) and if they elude GSL, it's ok too, as long as SC2 gets promoted and analysed in an entertaining and interesting fashion, the world will be a better place. Keep on the good work!

Stephano would be an awesome guest if thats true. Thanks for the shows JP, don't let the ungrateful dicks get you down, even if you do hate Europe and can't tell your Sweden's from your Finlands.

JP, I love the show, keep it up and dont mind the loud mouths!
I do have some concerns recently thought. Maybe its time you look over your "pillars"? I dont intend to poke at a hornets nest but seriously, PLEASE get Day9 to commit to the show or get someone else! Judging from your stream when you make the show notes etc you dont seem to have an easy time getting a hold of him at all, it just gets silly when one of your pillars never is on the show.
2nd: You dont have to bring up that you are part of MLG every time. Just ask the questions yourself instead of insist that Geoff or Tyler ask your questions. Again it is a silly way to go about it
3d: Being a broadcaster, you must admit that consistency is very important, especially if you want to grow your viewing numbers! I love the show, and even though I work a 9-5 job I try and stay up to watch it live and participate in chat/on twitter. My biggest issue with SOTG is that its impossible to plan around it since you have no consistency at all. Just look at the dates (and broadcast time) of the shows starting from your Christmas hibernation.
4th: Try and keep the technical MLG (or other tournament) babble to a minimum, I think the almost hour long interview with Adam was a bit excessive. The only relevance to the show was really the talk about the winter arena brackets and the media debate.
5th: Did I mention you are awesome for doing this? Pretty please, with sugar on top, try and be more consistent with the show, take some time and find a time that fits well for all your American "pillar" participants. Please try and be better with updates in the OP of this thread. The date (marked in red) when the next show is suppose to be at is basically never, ever updated. I bet there are a million people, including me, who would like to help you, if you just ask for it. Lastly the thing that has been stated so many times, maybe its time to expand the SOTG pillars to get better balance between the races? Catz might not be the best zerg on the planet, but he is a funny guy and has some interesting points (usually). When QXC graduates in may, maybe you can pick him up as a terran pillar? He has a very scientific approach to the game, which I think the lot of us enjoy.

Fuck the trolls, JP. You have no obligations to cover every tournament. Talk about what you guys want to talk about and choose to follow closely.
My only complaint for the show is that I want more of it.
That Brood War overlay last episode was awesome, too.
Just a quick suggestion: If you need hosts, with Sean being so unreliable and Artosis having internet issues, how about getting Naniwa on the show? He was on an episode in the past, and I enjoyed it. Since then he's drastically improved his communication skills and I'd love to hear more from him. He never seems to get enough credit.
