that is the most crucial factor of being a "pillar" on sotg. granted, Artosis is a pleasant exception. but I think it is highly unlikely to convince an active player outside of US to put up with sleep deprivation once a week.

It would actually be pretty cool if they could hype SPL a little, last time they talked about Jangbi's win was quite cool but it was after the finals were actually over.

Well that's the thing. Terran only does well in one part of the world and that's korea and that's only because a higher % of top pros chose terran as their race in korea.
Put together a list of the top foreigners and how many terrans are on it? The majority of top foreigners are toss and zerg.
Maybe that's because a lower % of top pros chose terran as their race outside of Korea?
Even if that was true, terran was nerfed to death because of results in korea. Can't say the reverse was true with the foreign scene, since toss and zerg only got buffs mostly.

Ironically, arguably the best foreigner Terran lost in a TvT at Dreamhack. There are a fair amount of foreigner terrans that are very good, let's wait a short time before we scream doom and gloom.

I'm not saying there are no good foreigner terrans, but there are a lot less of them when people talk about the top foreigners. They always mention, idra, huk, stephano, sen, naniwa, nericho, mana, etc. Who would be on your list for top 5 foreign terrans and how would they stack up to your list of top 5 foreign toss/zerg? I think select is in top 5, then who else? Demuslim, Kas, thorzain?
The reason why there is no foreigner Terran on State of the Game, is because there is a huge lack of a big personality Terran players. You look at the pillars, skill isnt really the big factor its their personality or how well known they are as players.

Thorzain, Kas, Strelok, Bratok, and I suppose QXC can be in top 5 whenever he chooses to be. He's got other things to do though.
Select is too if you count him as a foreigner [/neverendingdebate]

My top 5 foreigner terrans? Thorzain, Select, Fenix (despite not hearing anything from him for a while), Demuslim, and Major. In that order too. I don't think Happy qualifies up there, and there are a number of other very good Terrans who aren't on that list (BratOK, QXC, Kas, etc.)
My top 5 foreigner Protoss: HuK, Naniwa, Sase, White-Ra, and Mana (in that order). Top 5 foreigner Zerg: IdrA, Sen, Stephano, Ret, and Sheth (in that order).
I have no trouble listing 5 of each that are extremely good, and there are a number of names I left off that list that are nearly as good and might be as good on any given day.
As for how they stack up to each other? Pretty sure they're all approximately equal across the board. I give a slight edge to the zergs.

Pretty sure all teams took a break to rest, not just the teams that disbanded There's pictures of SKT taking a vacation to Thailand in one of those threads xd
Yeah, not having any organized team practice, staff or maps is not a big deal.
Its the closing of the finals @dreamhack from Swedish national television. The internet stream didnt capture the sounds of the crowd at all unfortunately.
HUGE thanks for this one! didn't see how hearty the TL crew overwhelmed Hero right at/in his booth - this shows so much more emotions <3

Heh, I actually meant kas instead of happy. I think there's a clear distinction b/w the foreign toss/zerg and terrans because the toss/zerg players are the ones that get tournament results.

The foreigners who consistently get results are the ones who spent a while in Korea. Other than them, the others only occasionally pick up a win at a tournament, and they don't usually stay at the top for long. Stephano is a notable exception, but I doubt he'll be winning left and right going forward.

and if there is any less hero praise, followed by tylers tears for his team mates glory i will swear off sotg forever (i kid xD)
my only issue with them talking about hero is they might make it sound like he's up and coming, or finally getting up to say...huks, standard. when really hero has been absolutely dominating on the ladder. his anxiety or nerves or whatever have just made him not play remotely like he does when hes online though. - I hope they ramble about him though XD
I'd like them to talk about foreign terrans too, actually. not because I think they should be a "pillar" on the show. it's not meant to be a straight balance bler herr derr need 1 of each race thing...it's the five of them. the end.
But when it comes down to it, we really don't have any foreign terrans that are performing very well. There's select, if you call him a foreigner. There's Thorzain, who apparently is falling by the wayside. There's...who else? There aren't even THAT many, and of what there are, they either don't really come to tournaments, and if they do, they don't actually get very far. I mean, really the whole terran OP nonsense is just nonsense, and most arguments are just nonsensical, but that's besides the point.
Where are the foreign terrans? And why aren't they doing well? And! Without being elitist towards koreans, what is it about terran that has Koreans doing so well with them, that has Foreigners generally not?

I don't think one can call Stephano a one hit wonder when he has won 3 notable tournaments in the last month.

I didn't call him a one hit wonder, I said he's a notable exception to the only Korean trained foreigners winning, but that he likely, moving forward, won't win entire tournaments frequently, but merely occasionally (if that). He'll still likely place well. The reason is that he's very good, but he won those tournaments using a unique style that his opponents weren't used to and didn't know how to deal with. When he played Boxer (I forget which tournament), Boxer countered his style and made Stephano look silly. Stephano is great, but he won those tournaments due to the surprise factor of a new style.
I'd say Stephano's best quality is that he's 99% immune to drops, which is ridiculous.

he didn't call him a one hit wonder. He said he is the exception since he is having success without being in Korea, but probably wont keep winning at the rate he is currently at (which is too tall of a task to say of anyone).

hehehe, I'm looking forward to this coming up. I mean, when I read the lineup I agreed totally with him, but still, prediction made, prediction failed.
After MLG I could see DRG, Puma and Hero all unable to defeat the mighty foreign scene, especially with players such as Huk, Idra, thorzain, Stephano, naniwa in attendance.

Haha yeah I hope they talk about their no kr in top 3 prediction. Plus puma took out drg and genius, so it was koreans knocking each other out as usual. There were only 4 koreans of note (puma, drg, hero, genius) too out of 64 players, so I could see why they would say that. The odds were stacked against the koreans with MC and others dropping out.
