the free stuff argument doesnt really hold true. many television channels, radio channels etc broadcast on a free to view basis. yet you still expect the same level of efficacy and professionalism as you do from a pay to view broadcast. whether you paid to view it, or sat through adverts as your payment has absolutely no baring on you're ability to complain when a product doesnt live up to your standards. doesnt mean i agree with what he is saying, im just saying the arguement you chose to use isnt any better

The thing is, You really shouldn't expect the same level of professionalism from a TV show/channel and an internet show/channel. The vibe I get from the show is a bunch of dudes chilling and talking starcraft, and if they can't do the show due to starcraft, how can I complain? As far as I know, they never do a show the week of an MLG. And everybody knows that they don't.
And as far as his "Free stuff" argument not holding up, you PAY for television service solely so you can watch television. You don't pay for your internet connection just to watch podcasts. Television networks are obligated to produce professional television programs. Podcast producers are obligated to do whatever the fuck they want. The erratic schedule is a freedom that the internet as a medium provides. If a television network just decided to not broadcast for a day, they'd be losing infinitely larger amounts of bank than a podcast producer would.
TL;DR Inflated expectations and general QQ'ing is killing esports. Cut it out guys.

who told you what i do and do not pay my internet for? ; l
why shouldnt we expect the same from internet tv as 'real' tv?
on your first paragraph, i agree. the fact they will be replacing it with a live show is more than enough for me. im not complaining here about the conflict. its more that people arent actually saying what they mean in the arguements -_-

I mean, I ASSUME you don't pay for your internet only to watch podcasts >.<.
But the reason we shouldn't expect the same thing from "real" TV and internet TV is simply because we don't pay for it. Not in the same way anyways. I mean, strictly speaking about SOTG, we don't pay for it at all. However, I DO expect professionalism from a show such as the NASL. Because I paid 25 dollars for it. And what I receive is nothing but professionalism. Basically, what you put in is what you can expect back. If you pay zero dollars for a free show about some dudes and starcraft, you can't expect to be able to complain about it and not take shit. But if you pay 25 dollars and you get unprofessionalism, you can be damn sure i'll be giving out shit by the bucketful.
TL;DR, Don't complain about what you don't pay for.

Real TV = commercial blocks of 4 min. after 7 min. of broadcast time (or SpikeTV 11 min. blocks after 5 min. of broadcast, LOL). "Internet" (Day9 dailies, SoTG, plenty of pros streaming, etc. etc.) = hours of programming with a 30 sec commercial every 20-30 min. I would say Internet is blowing "Real" TV expectations away. I would not call modern TV "professional" in any way. They whine and complain about DVR's, yet don't understand the paradigm shift of the 18-35 generation. JP is professional enough to explain when the show will be and why, which is more than we deserve. He is also VERY consistent on broadcasting at 10:30 pm CDT Tues. unless it is a "special". How is any of this unprofessional?

I'm going to assume you were talking to me, but seeing as you didn't quote me, you probably didn't and i'm about to look like a big ol' douche. When I said "unprofessionalism", I was speaking purely hypothetically. I was speaking about how if I spent 25$ on an NASL season ticket and the programming was poorly done (AKA unprofessional), I would surely complain about that, because I paid money.
Again, my apologies if you weren't talking to me, but I assume that needed clarification anyways.

BBC is unreal TV.
+ Show Spoiler +Yeah, BBC is a lot of shitty TV as well, but honestly, having lived in other countries for far longer than the UK and not being from the UK originally, I feel blessed to live in England when it comes to TV because of it.

Why can't they do the main show no matter what and do the extra shows when they have to? Cause they know they wont have the time to talk about the same stuff they do on the regular show.
I miss Starcraft Central (or something like that), great idea and it had a fixed time and date. SOTG is a bunch of doods talking starcraft. They have no obligation to produce episodes for anyone. Fuck, why are people feeling entitled to this shit. it was a bunch of doods but now they are doing it for the money and have 'corporate' backing. i understand they have to prerpare for events, and im looking forward to the live show at mlg. im just saying that the show isnt just a campfire chat about starcraft when people are getting paid, there are adverts, and mlg is pushing for a more professional look to the whole thing.
seriously doubt they're going to take SOTG super seriously now that they have a corporate backing.
it is what it is, not what we make it out to be and i really hope it stays that way so bottom line: no bitching that JP and friends can't do the show.

Hi JP,
I'm in Norway and I rarely get to see SOTG live. If you could please upload SOTG to blip.tv a little faster - if possible - it would be greatly appreciated
Love the show!

It's no longer on blip.tv, You have to go to MLG website now.

F4ble, it's being uploaded to mlgpro.com now! Check their archives (if you haven't seen episode 52 yet)

on the next SotG i want this topic "Internet problems at major SC2 events" brought up AGAIN no dancing around the subject its just not acceptable if SC2 want to be really Big in the Future.
Top of the Cake would be if Blizzcon has the same Problems this year.

Would be kinda cool to have stephano on after what he's done recently, though with the talent that will be at MLG there are a ton of players they could include assuming their schedules permit it...hard to go wrong =D
Just hope they're able to have a bit more time this time than last MLG, even though it's quite understandable that it's a taxing weekend schedule for everyone, so they don't want to go too horribly late mid-tournament.
