He didn't say anything like this. He said it was sad for SC2 to grow (broadcast on OGN and MBC) that it would have to cut into SC1 broadcast/audience etc.
He said he would prefer that everyone would just do SC2 now. As in, no more SC1, just SC2. It's literally a quote from the VOD.

He wished that this slow transistion could be over already because watching the sport slowly die is more painful. Also, Artosis doesn't have to worry about a job ha

This is why you shouldn't disable Twitch.tv from making archive videos....

He does play the game. Therefor it's not really relevant whether you're watching him play or not, his knowledge isn't affected by that.

The best coaches, scouts, and analysts in traditional sports either don't play, no longer play, or were often nowhere near as good as their counterparts in their playing careers. Todd Haley is an NFL coach and never even played High School football. Being good at a game can certainly give you an advantage when providing commentary and analysis, but not playing at a professional level shouldn't make you take things he says less seriously. They learn an existing body of knowledge while SC2 is still being figured out. And coaches are playing the game in the coach position. They make up a strategy, have their players do it, and learn from it. An analyst never gets to do anything himself; he only observes. But I agree that analysts can have insight. They just never get to test it and prove its worth.
For the discussion last night we were all equals, since none of us players had played the strategy he was suggesting. If I go and play that build twenty times and come back and make arguments, then Day9 has gotta take my word on the things I discovered. Of course with SC2 there's always some variable to tweak, so he could still make suggestions to make it work, despite my twenty games.

Enjoyed the last episode very much. I also prefer the new overlay to the old one. Looked clearer and more professional. Too bad Tyler and to an extent Day9 didnt have too much to say this time.
I think the guys on sotg take criticism very well and try to improve on everything. Just dont listen to the haters and keep improving guys.

No dude. He said he wished everyone would switch over to SC2.... a.k.a. the death of BW. He said it was sad but it didn't sound like he meant it.

So he wants one big booming scene rather than two starving ones. How silly of him.

Flash's salary got bumped to like $400k for the next season. If that's starving then I think the death of Brood War might take quite some time.
edit: thinking the VODs might have to wait till Thursday.

Indeed, that's the problem. Same with SC2, there's enough global interest to keep it running for several years still.
I bet Artosis would like to see a Starcraft game with a Korean BW-2007 scene but with the addition of a global SC2-2012 one. Now that would be something. Unfortunately that can only become a reality if the BW teams transfer over to SC2 which is unlikely to happen anytime soon.

It's not that easy. A lot of people in Korea and on TL as well consider BW and SC2 to be utterly unalike and their love for BW may not transition into love for SC2. I don't fall into the latter category but I understand it completely.
This game has a long way to go before it can fill the role that BW does and only at that point can we begin to discuss the rationality of abandoning BW since it would be truly outdated. It is from that perspective that a lot of people express disbelief at what Artosis said because he used to be a part of that scene and has to understand that SC2 is not yet ready to fill BW's shoes.
Anyone who views his comments through that lens is going to see them as opportunistic and disingenous, hence the controversy.

We seem to be over complicating a really simple non-issue.
