mind in tact... reasonable suggestion but you are not the first to suggest such a thing.
regardless, the current way games start is bad and hard to predict.

not sure if its been said but i really enjoy the 30 second countdown because while searching for games i am often alt tabbed or reading a book or w/e and the countdown os an easily recognisable noise to make me look to see my oponents race, mabye a countdown before and after the loading screen?

Ditto, and I'm pretty sure I posted a suggestion to their forums in beta. It's so silly having a countdown and then a long loading screen. It would make so much more sense to have the game load and then use the countdown to let things settle (often there's still loading lag when the game starts) and give you a little warning before the match begins since you have no idea how long the loading will take and just have to sit there like a schmuck waiting for it.

I'd rather just have it show mouse position on the loading screen. Either way, I suppose it's not such a big deal. As long as your workers mine enough to not stop worker production for your second worker, there really shouldn't be -ANY- difference in your economy.

My comp lags so much that i can tell the game is starting because the in-game mouse (for protoss, my race of choice, its a yellow/gold protossy arrowhead) shows up on the loading screen right before it starts the game. Not only do i know its starting, but i can position my mouse approprately

Lag can be advantageous :D

Wow nice catch. I used to get a bit nervous during the countdown, but now it doesn't really mean anything =p It might make more sense if Blizzard changed it, although it probably wouldn't have much effect on gameplay.

I'd really love to see this feature. A always thought it would be a good idea to do this, it was suggested by someone a while back, however no one really paid any attention since the response was, "there are more important things to do" but yeah. Definitely want this feature.

I think it's a great idea. My PC isn't too great and there is often a laggy-type spike at the beginning of the game. I'm thrilled every time I manage to send my workers to the minerals correctly and make an SCV. Sometimes they end up behind the minerals or some bullshit

I also really want this feature.

I find that sometimes my opponents loads from a 1/4 "loaded" progress bar to OH SHIT THE GAME STARTED AND IM DRINKING WATER in less than A second.

It's really annoying...
