Blizzard may have halted negotiations with Kespa, but GOMTV hasn't.

Why aren't you complain about Valve and Counter-Strike? Same exact thing, just you're not blowing that shit out of proportion.

Would you listen to yourself? "OMG BLIZZARD IS SO HORRIBLE FOR WANTING TO UPHOLD THEIR INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS AS THE COMPANY THAT CREATED THE GAME!"

I can't even fathom how you believe you have any sort of an argument to stand on.

gg.

For creating a game you guys love, you all don't think very highly of Blizzard lmao

Yeah, the game was created by dumb luck. That's a realistic line of thought?

Of course the game was balanced by luck. Just look at SC2, THIS IS THE BLIZZARD BALANCE TEAM PRETENDING TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. They do not. SC just happened to be balanced.

SC1 was actually balanced by the mapmakers.
Oracle comes in, Scvs go down, never a miscommunication.

There's a difference between creating it and then taking credit.

It's like Blizzard had a bastard child, whom they abandoned after milking him for 5 years. Koreans picked them up, fed and nurtured it so the child became successful.

Then Blizzard comes in and says "lol that's cause it's my genes. It has nothing to do with anything else"

It is pure, unadulterated arrogance. There is no other words I can say other than that (other than the fact that I"m probably going to write some ridiculous essay about this soon).

Of course the game was balanced by luck. Just look at SC2, THIS IS THE BLIZZARD BALANCE TEAM PRETENDING TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. They do not. SC just happened to be balanced.

You really need to stop listening to the little voices in your head. Blizzard, Kespa, the pro-gamers, and the community all contributed towards making BW successful. Blizzard is not taking credit, but simply taking it in another direction. Whether that direction is good remains to be seen, but no need to get so hysterical about it.

Yup, because I'm just crazy.

Blizzard is 100% taking credit. They want 100% control, that is all they want. 100% control is always bad, no matter what. It means that, we're 100% at the mercy of Blizzard, it means that if we disagree with Blizzard, there is nothing we can do about it.

The only thing Blizzard has told us about eSports is in their pathetic attempts to contract with KesPA and Battle.net 2.0. Great signals. I don't have any hope for E-Sports at the moment.

Diablo II? WoW? Warcraft III? damn bro, chill and think about these games. Wildly popular, successful, etc. These games are good because Blizzard knows how to make good games. e-Sports is not going to crumble because of 'arrogant' Blizzard. They're doing the smart thing, and signing off the broadcasting rights to companies that know their shit. Wait and see, you'll find the other side is just as nice.

Yeah how many of those 3 games have successful eSports leagues.

Oh. Wait.

Blizzard does not give a fuck about eSports. They care about milking. All of you are nothing but numbers and $$$$ to Blizzard. If you need any evidence, just look at battle.net 2.0

Blizzard can't run eSports for nuts,I can agree with that, but that is also the reason they're making deals with KeSPA(who refused) and GOMTV(who accepted)

and these people know how to run eSports quite well.

If gomtv helps run the leagues anything like they ran their tournament in scbw (with similar rules / maps / format), and takes less influence from blizzard (hopefully), then i don't have much to worry about.
(fingers crossed)

Kespa asked for it. Blizzard's conditions were quite over the line, but they had every legal right to set them. Kespa executives were irresponsible and naive to think they can keep running away from it.

Blizz owns the rights to the game, Kespa treats the players like slaves

No brainer.

Sounds like good news to me.

I hope this turns out really well. Gom tv was awesome for many reasons. They had international coverage and a huge price pool and how were they rewarded for that.. they were denied.. wtf Kespa (koream esportmoney sucking prick organization) should go shoot themselves..

WC3 was actually pretty successful until crooked mapmakers at MBC rigged maps in favor of Orc....

pretty sure your precious Koreans pretty much destroyed that game, not Blizzard.

The 12 Kespa teams will not be allowed to participate in the GOM-TV Starcraft II tournaments.

Therefore, new Starcraft II specific teams will be formed.

Korean Starcraft II will start at a lower skill level than its 12 broodwar counterparts, allowing foreigners to be competitive at a global stage.

As Starcraft II is a new game, even if the overall skill level of its professional scene is lower, it will still gather audience, both the old broodwar fans and new fans.

Slowly, but surely, some famous broodwar players will make the transition from broodwar to starcraft II, abandoning Kespa. Unless Kespa increase its incentives to the players.

GOM-TV will act as a competitor to Kespa, more human rights and better pay will be granted to the players as a result of the competition.

GOM-TV is willing to reach out to non-Korean scene, a fact that is very much beneficial to us.

This will work out very well.

if you like that inferior game called SC II, you mean

THIS BETA WILL ALWAYS BE INFERIOR TO MY NOSTALGIA FILLED MEMORIES

Memories? Are you clueless and don't realize that thousands of people on this site (and many, many more in Korea) still enjoy SC on a daily basis?

They still do

but they have an inherent bias, just like with any anticipated sequel, that will never live up to their expectations.

esports is a secondary market. No company should be able to control a secondary market. It goes against the spirit of innovation that IP was designed in mind with. All too often people think IP is about protecting the content creator or lining their pockets. It's not. It's designed to promote progress. Companies controlling secondary markets quashes innovation and progress.
