Dude, you're British. I'm an annoying white guy. Lets keep this in perspective.

Yes but I don't know anything and only took and interest in Starcraft when the SC2 beta started. You have something of a headstart, hell EVERYONE does. I make shit up and shout as loudly and quickly as possible in the hope that people don't notice. Sooner or later someone will

TB: Everybody know that you are not the most knowledgeable of the commentators, you are scoring hugely on your personal style as well as the pure britishness. Its like watching premier league with laser guns, very nice, eh, indeed. Also, I think you are coming along nicely with regards to game sense. I still remember watching live when someone did the extractor trick and you and your partner were totally at loss as to why he did that at the start. :D
Husky: I really like your commentating style, and you have a solid grasp on playing the game, it is the side material that has kinda bored me lately. Hopefully you will find more interesting matches to cast now that HDH is finished. Huge congrats on that btw, what a stunning success.

Ahh yes, the first ever streamed match. I'd never played SC1 multiplayer at that point. Seems like a long time ago, in reality it was about 3 months, crazy.

Husky and HD actually sound like commentators though. Day9 bores me. Yeah, he's more knowledgeable about the game but I literally fall asleep halfway through. I find he lacks enthusiasm on his commentaries. It would be like hearing Kobe Bryant commenting throughout an entire basketball game.. yea, he would have alot of knowledge, but would put the viewer to asleep.
I guess if your learning about the game and looking to improve on your game, day9 would be the better commentator - but if you just wanna relax and watch a good, entertaining game that doesn't sound like a robot talking in your ear, then HD and Husky are the best right now (for english).

Day9 has a far more entertaining and less annoying demeanor then Husky and HD. It has been torturous watching the HDH. They say the most ignorant, blatantly wrong, stupid things, and miss things constantly. Sometimes it's funny, like when Nony builds a starport and HD says maybe we'll see void rays, etc. Or when they can't figure out how to make a 2 player map. One of my favorite starcraft forums always has a topic going during the matches, and we point out and laugh at every stupid and incorrect thing they say. Makes a good drinking game as well. But the way they speak is annoying too, particularly Husky. Every time I hear "h -to-the-usky-husky" I want to punch my screen.
But ultimately, HD and Husky are not anywhere near the same league as Day9.

Day9, cuz he does really in depth analysis of the game, and has a TON of personal experience
|
The reason why day 9 is so good is because out of almost all the commentators he actually knows how to play.
|
Oh man, I just watched a TotalBiscuit commentary and I was laughing my ass off! His unique style makes you want to pay attention to the match from to start to finish! He even calls the team colors as "trunks"!

The hype about HD and Husky is ridiculous, which many times proves the point:
What is mainstream/popular usually isn't that great.
It boggles my mind that they have more views on YouTube than some of the other commentators who operate at a much higher entertainment level and analysis level!
Edit: don't let me leave out that we owe them alot for their love of community and have added alot for the tournaments. However, high level commentary is out of the question.

Entertainment level is an opinion and not a fact. In my opinion HD and Husky is entertaining to the casual youtube viewer that aren't necessarily interested in improving their play (if they even do play) or learning in-depth game mechanics. Do you seriously think that the 60 000 viewers that watches one of their videos represent the community here at TL? I bet that most people that view their videos on youtube doesn't give a crap if HD guess wrong what the outcome will be when a certain kind of building is put down once in a while.

quick! hype up your game casters.

It seems that the reason that HD and Husky delayed posting the final games of the HDH Invitational #1 tournament was that they both got google partnership, so that ads are shown on their youtube channel, and they get some kickback.
Congrats!

yet theyll both keep asking for donations

I really don`t like HD&Husky as they have so many annoying catchphrases and often a bad game sense. In Broodwar I switched to watching the games on the Jon747 (or how he is called) account as commentators are mostly so annoying that it destroys the games. NukeTheStars is an example for that.
Who is the guy that commentates the Asia vs. Europe showmatches with Day9? He seems pretty decent.

HD and Husky for entertainment value. I wouldn't get down on them because they may not be as good at the game as many here. They do bring in a large audience which helps e-sports grow which they have both said is there goal. So I do watch them both when they cast videos of other players playing I usually don't watch there own matches.
I watch shoutcraft which is great.
Rise - also is good but doesn't post alot of videos
Day(9) for learning the game - his blip.tv logs are excellent and cover important aspects if you are learning the game. His live commentary not really my thing.
Streams- Destiny aka Steve.Bonnell who has a stream here on TL is my favorite live stream for a specific race, he plays Zerg and actually talks out what he is doing and thinking. Yes he rages which can be funny and entertaining. He definitely interacts with the streaming audience and answers questions. Many of the live streams are just watching someone play and music not my thing.
LzGamers I just started watching and enjoy it alot also.
So for commentators my choices are- Shoutcraft HD and Husky LzGamers Rise Day(9)
Streams of Someone playing- Destiny

Day9 is the BEST commentator hands down. He knows his stuff because he's an awesome player. <3 Day9. Much better than the rest casters out there!
We need Day9 and Tasteless to start doing dual commentaries.
