Blizzard is doing the hard thing by telling the Aussies what they need, not simply giving them what they want. I’ll quote the great American statesman Henry Ford, “If I’d asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse.” Many Americans and Europeans don’t know this, but Australians have a remarkably difficult time dealing with “western” culture and norms. I once knew a girl, a writer, who flew out to Australia and met a guy there. They became romantically involved over there and she brought him back to the US to give him an idea of what it was like over here, and it was unbelievable how large the culture gap was. We got into a limo at one point and he asked Gus, the black driver, what his tribal background was. He also assaulted a pimp for using foul language on the street, and aggressively groped a transvestite’s genitals. Even relatively simple western technology like the bidet and the escalator seemed absolutely foreign to him. I guess, thinking back on it now, it was actually sort of funny. Combine this with the lag that occurs when people on the “bottom” of the earth, Australia, play with people on the “top” of the earth, USA, and you have the perfect recipe for a bad time. I’m glad Blizzard, in their wisdom, has seen fit to prevent this situation from further damaging the already strained US-Aus relations following the loss of Oceanic 815. So the "real reason" for the separation is the Americans and their bad behaviour? I am fine with that, because useless trash talk has no place in a computer game you play with people you dont know. Its possibly insulting, because you only have written text and no body language to figure out if its real / sarcasm / trash talk ...

It's part of our culture of morbid hostility every-man-for-himself mentality. Very weird to be honest.

I seriously hope you didn't troll that hard for no reason. You look like a dick. + Show Spoiler + Edit: as well as the lame dundee reference as well regarding to tribal background. What a funny guy you are.

I am sorry that you are experiencing big latency on the US server, however your intended region is Oceanic and any latency caused by choosing not to play within your intended region is your own responsibility. -- Blizzard 6 months from now.I feel that the biggest problem with giving AU players their own server or dumping them in oceanic is that it removes all responsibility for the latency to the US server from the region. If Blizzard is going to invest in hardware infrastructure to cater to the Oceanic needs it should be via a proxy server within America so we can play against other competitive nations. This is suppose to be an ESPORT not Hello Kitty Island Adventure ffs.

1.) There's a major reduction in latency. 2.) There's a decent number of players. I don't really care about playing the world's best players or whatever since I'm not that good anyway .Although the best way would just to let people choose, like SC1.

No. Blizzard has never locked anyone to any region, and has even noted already that if you contact them they can move your account between the existing realms. Eg move from EU to US.

I don't think it can have anything to do with our Battle.net account as there isn't any information for Blizzard to tell where we are actually from. I don't think blizzard really cares about segregating us that badly. It's just a way to handle the masses, probably.

That is useless when I tee up a game on a Saturday morning with my pals on shacknews or teamliquid to play during their Friday night, then 3 hours later I'd love to play my pal down the street but he's only on the AU server, is Blizzard going to change my region in 5 minutes at 3:00am on a Saturday morning?
