Lurking without contributing isn't a good thing though. It just means you are a user which doesn't make the place better. I agree that join date is important, but posts are too.

Really not happy about all the hate on the self-nominators. The original thread said it was okay. What's with the huge social stigma? Knock it off. >:[

So how exactly do we win this competition? I feel so lonely...and cold. (trying to win the sympathy vote)

i bet you the first few people who gave up their chances to get a key will get one.

i think we need to have some challenge

Market equilibrium is that no one will get keys. Its a twisted version of the prisoner's dilemna. Its hopeless.
Sorry to those who self-nominated. Good luck on getting keys some other way.
EDIT: Unless of course, only a very small number give up the chance and it was a sham and they get the keys instead. That's probably what I would do if I were you since any other strategy has 0% chance of getting one.

If i didn't have a beta key myself, i would properly whore myself out, so don't really blame people for nominating themself those 3-4 weeks without a key was... painful -,-
gl to everyone

well that was the most depressing thing i've heard all week

"146 of 151 contestants remaining", and possibly like 5 will get key? That said, my chances to get key are almost as small as from Facebook contest. I don't want to get a key. from this contest
Better if someone gets key from this contest so we others have better chance to get key from other contests ^_^ (yes, selfishly trying to increase my chances to get key ;D)

hey i ColorsOfRainbow also nominate myself and arent on the list

Could one of you admin wizards add a suspenseful background music to this entire thread?

There's certainly lots of them who won't even read this until Monday, and they don't have this sense of solidarity towards TL which would make them regret it if noone got a key. Also, there was already a wave of keys given to deserving new posters. This would be valid if you assume the purpose of this giveaway was actually to give away the keys, and not as a means of giving the community/mods a good laugh. If it's the latter, it doesn't matter whether those <50 post people are able to cross themselves off or not.
Personally, I think that it's hilarious that some people keep trying to find ways to get certain groups of people weeded out of the list. You're basically just feeding into the trolls calling everyone here selfish.

If people thought they weren't deserving, they wouldn't nominate themselves or opt in or break their F5 keys on Facebook or jump through hoops just for the slim hope of being one of those lucky nerds. Seriously, who thinks they are entirely undeserving and still want a key? Ken doesn't say that only the most deserving need apply. Merely "deserving" is good enough

I want to see those people enter Round 2 of Hot Bid's game where it's essentially the same thing. Every Round is played for 48 hours. The smaller group advances to the next round whethe it'd be people who crossed themselves off or people who have not.

lol, imagine if blizzard sent out beta invites like this...
Here's a SCII Beta Key!
Go to your Battle.net page and register now!
...If you think you are deserving.
Else, give it to someone who is.
I wonder how many people would actually give up their keys.

Also, there was already a wave of keys given to deserving new posters. So because I created my account when I got into Husky's and HD's youtube casts and haven't found anything to post my "knowledge" in i should be undeserving of a beta key. (BTW I opted in on day one) Personally I'd rather not spam a forum with useless dribble trying to up my post count just to make me look like I have been active. When in reality all you have to do is look at when the user name has been log in last, or at minimum, the IP. (sorry to get off topic here, but Scorch seems to be a bit mad that anyone here can just nominate them selves and get a beta key, when he didn't get one in the "I've been here forever" category.) Don't tell me you don't have anything useful to say to any topic ever. There's a lot more being discussed on this site than Starcraft. There are political, philosophical and religious debates, people ask for advice on life or technical stuff etc. There's plenty of opportunity to be helpful without spamming useless crap.
Yes, I want a key as much as the next guy, and yes, I'm mad that hordes of undeserving people get keys (it's better on TL than elsewhere though). But I stepped back from my self-nomination already so fucking refrain from giving me shit.

GOD DAMN that OP is fierce as hell.
Here's hoping there is only one key for this comp... because that would be awesome. :D
Just kidding, hope anyone who needs one and deserves one gets one.
