I posted this in the general Day 9 thread and I would like to post the same in this thread too.... does that count as double posting?
I pretty much created an account on this site so I could post in this thread.
That was incredible. I told my bro-in law about this and he thought it was lame, then I told him that the video was really about dreams, and finding your passion and going the distance and NEVER giving up and living and struggling and winning and it ALL being worth it. Most Men lead lives of quiet desperation and Day 9 will lead a truely well lived life.
Truely inspirational. Thank you.
I think we, as a community, should get together and do something really nice for Day 9's mom. What do you think she would like?
I remember Day 9 talking about how busy she is, single mom, owning a business. Maybe we could pool some moneys and send her on vacation or something?

This was truly the most moving and awe-inspiring thing I've seen in relation to Starcraft. I'm honestly speechless right now. I'd never felt so emotionally touched by a game and its community until I started playing Starcraft. Thank you so much DAy[9].

i finally got a chance to sit down and watch this cast. i didn't know it was going to be as long as it was and i'm up about an hour later than i normally would be on a week night, but i wanted to see it through and i'm glad i did.
i'll be honest, i don't follow your casts much because i just don't have enough time in the day, but for some reason i really wanted to watch this cast. i wanted to watch it because i knew before i even clicked on the link that i would be able to relate with a lot of the things you were going to touch on. i've been playing since 10th grade (12 years ago) and i played with good friends throughout high school. i would even hook up 2 300mhz computers via cable to play "lan" tournaments with my friends. we would stay in on the weekends to drink beer and play starcraft instead of going out to party some weekends when i was a senior in high school. i've felt the great feelings of realizing you have improved and trying to explain how to look at the game as boundry-less to others and people who've never heard of the game. i've explained to my parents how its like chess and playing a musical instrument at the same time and why it wasn't just another game. i enjoyed the scene so much i needed to start commentating games myself and get other people excited for starcraft. and finally, after 11 or 12 years, being out of college with a wife and a full time job, i still need to stay "in the game" and participate with what is clearly the most influential and important community i've ever been a part of.
people are always comparing commentators but at the end of the day i think most of us have the same goal - to share our love for starcraft and to show others why we love it so much and why they should too. thanks for articulating it better than anyone else could and congrats on all of your accomplishments in starcraft and your life.

My brother and I are also "brothers of Starcraft", although clearly to a much less talented degree, so this episode was MUCH more emotional than I anticipated it to be but in such a wonderful way!

You're the man Day9. You have more passion than anyone i've ever met. Thoroughly enjoyed the cast, and will desperately try to spread the StarCraft word amongst my close friends.

Great cast! How brave of you for being so honest. I'm glad you told the WHOLE story though, because if you take any one part of out it can seem to the uninitiated that you are just some crazy nerd out there. I used to think that we were diametrically opposed outside of SC and gaming in general, but there's a lot in common i think that we share with millions of others of the video game generation. We grew up mostly without dads or had some aspect that made us not have "normal" families, and had to have a wealth of these kinds of experiences to fill the void. The core concepts of SC such as hard work, determination, belief in one's self, and community are really universal, and I hope everyone can take a lot from your example. Cheers Day! Very WP! Stuff like this can really change someone's life for the better, we all need this kind of encouragement.

this was amazing, thank you.

Excellent cast Day9! You put out great advice on a successful mindset for life.
Many cheers and keep up with believing in yourself and in the TL community! Thank you!

Awesome day9! Spreading what I love, so I posted it on facebook. They are unworthy.
