Thanks again to everyone for hopefully the last stream on Livestream. Not only did it randomly disconnect for no apparent reason but at the end, Procaster crashed. AWESOME SHIT.

After some research, it turns out that the livestream problems may be to do with a nasty caching bug with the latest version of Procaster, whereby it's killing the performance gradually overtime until it spits out a 'low bandwidth' error. I've downgraded so we'll see how that works tomorrow.

Ustream tests are ongoing.

I'm pretty sure most of their workarounds involve not being stuck on a UK ISP, 2 miles away from your exchange. That said, it's not just a bandwidth issue.

I've got a selection of screencap software to try and plug into FME. I'm familiar with FME, it's easy to use, but I used to plugin via a capture card, not screencap software. A couple that I've tried don't seem to work, so it's just a case of bashing away at it until something does.

In the meantime, hopefully this older version of Procaster does not cause the same errors. We'll find out tomorrow.

This is a half thought out idea. But when I am watching sports ( I believe that is what you are patterning this after to some degree ) I love it when broadcaster use the telestrator. Like this for example:

So this works great for NFL/NBA football because there are frequent breaks in the action. Which may not be the case in a SC game. They can be non stop action for very long periods of time.

But maybe you could do something similar to a "play of the game" after the match is finished. So you cast the game and the very last segment of the broadcast (which you could name a drop a sponsor - "Nvidia Play of the Game") have someone use the telestrator and show a key flank, or positioning of units, etc.

It would seem be almost impossible to do this in a live cast, but if you are publishing the video after the game then that would give you time to put together a little segment like that.

Keep up the great work.

EDIT: If you had the proper technology then you could use the telestrator on the live feed and then clear off the markings with a press of a button, similar to the NFL. That way you could use it live and not have to wait for a break in the action.

IMPORTANT

SHOUTcraft has successfully migrated to Ustream and all live shows will be broadcast here going forward. Quality right now is roughly the same as Livestream, slightly better in places and my new internet connection is scheduled for installation on the 25th of this month, at which point I can more than double the bitrate. VoDs are also functional and should be fully watchable without any irritating splitting anymore.
