I'm guessing a total of atleast 5-10 thousand if not more for their initial beta testing phase, which to me says that they're still just processing several thousand invites before they send them to the blizzcon attendees. | ||

Since this post is only in reference to the blizzon attendees, it would seem to indicate not all of them will be invited to the first wave. | ||

That could also mean that only some of the blizzcon/contest attendants get in the first wave though but it doesn't really sound like that and could have been a lot clearer about that. What's most frustrating, is that it would take a Blizzard employee like 10seconds to give us an answer in the post on battle.net forums. Simply a "We are done inviting Blizzcon people for this phase" or "Don't move, you might get it any second." | ||

I don't know what's involved in 'processing' the emails for Blizzard, so stats from previous betas would probably be the most help. Generating keys/emails from a database of registered users should take a few minutes MAX for 100s of thousands of key/address/text pairs.. Then I guess they are sent after that, and I can send well over 10 emails a second from my own PC which would only take me 20 minutes to send over 10k emails and surely a business could do it much faster. But alas it's been hours and no one has reported receiving one yet, so it appears I don't know what I'm talking about :/ | ||

These emails better show up fast or I'll likely start bothering tech support nonstop. its not a matter of priority. for past beta tests, battle.net in its current form didn't exist. therefore opt-ins were sent keys in email waves just like everyone else. now, however, they have the ability to just add sc2 access to opted-in people through battle.net, since you opt-in through battle.net. community sites afaik were asked for battle.net accounts when contacted, which is why people who got their beta access through staffing a community site have access - they were given it the same way as opt-ins. blizzcon 08 keys were given out way before the new battle.net system existed and when you put your key in you gave them an email. therefore they have to send emails in order to give those people access. they do not have an account associated with these keys. on top of that, they have never been fast with sending out email waves, whether it be due to volume or something else. this also applies to anyone who won a key through some contest and was asked for email - you're going to have to wait. tl;dr just wait. | ||

So the real work would be to compile all the addresses registered for the beta. Which should also be a breeze since we all went to some wow site and input our address, so they should have that list ready and waiting. This really can't be that much of a hassle. | ||

To say that a large number of Blizzcon registrations are being emailed keys and then giving zero updates after no one receives a key is quite annoying. I'm fairly understanding about wanting to test things with a smaller group of users - but keeping one constantly guessing what is going on just pisses me off. Is it that hard to communicate what isn't happening (ie. "email invites to Blizzcon not going out today - will update when we plan to try sending them again") so that people don't just waste time waiting and hoping? | ||

When I used to do email lists for another game it had to be staggered and monitored to make sure there are to many being send to a specific email provider at once. | ||

I wanted to provide an update for players that attended BlizzCon and redeemed their codes, but have yet to receive a beta key invite email. The first wave of invites have already been sent out and a majority of the invites were sent out to BlizzCon attendees. Unfortunately, due to the sheer number of BlizzCon attendees, we could not get everyone in with the first wave. Rest assured that if you did not get into the first wave, you will be included in a future wave, possibly within the next two weeks. The timing of the next wave will be dependent upon the amount of players that are playing and the load capacity of the servers. Thank you for your understanding and patience through this process.
