- Overruse of "miracle defense". - Using "morph" instead of "warp in" - You love sc, no doubt, you are very passionate, no doubt. But you scream a bit too much too often. Many situations were like "wtf, it's not that big of a deal. The players are eventually gonna try kill each other, no need to scream as soon as they engage". Overall you are an awesome caster, but sometimes even the best could benefit from some feedback ![]()

EITHER WAY, I still immensely enjoy his casts. I think he's the only caster in the same conversation as the Casting Archon.

Things could be worse we could have the likes of total biscuit or the guy with annoying hat that smokes from a pipe all day who rambles on about nothing.

Watching Day9 MCing for Dreamhack makes me remember the Day9 Launch Party. It's amazing how far we have come. Can't we just embrace the warm feelings together, for once?

We all love Day9, we just feel like there are some simple things he could fix to make his casting even better than it already is. If there's one thing that annoys me its his overuse of the word "Brilliant".

But seriously, stop using 'morph' instead of 'warp-in' lol.

But a good SC2 buddy of mine came to my house for dreamhack to watch it on a big screen, the only comment from him after the finals was 'that guy day9, he really made it all exciting'. Ofc he doesn't know any other casters, but as a 'neutral' viewer he immediately recognized the pure gaming thrill that is day 9 casting ![]()

Another thing we have to realize is he isn't a pro at this, and is somewhat new to it. Sports announcers on TV often have long backgrounds before we ever see them, with years of refinement (and when they don't, such as when an athlete gets a sportscasting job, it's often painfully obvious). The more he does this the better he will get at it. He seems pretty much 100% committed to growing e-sports, and wit his passion he will surely be looking at how to improve at what he is doing as one of the biggest faces of SC2. Personally, as a casual SC2 player I enjoy watching when he casts. I agree he can be repetitive, and hopefully this is something he can work on, but I can see it being rather difficult to work on expanding your vocabulary while live casting ![]()

Like any sports (or e-sports) announcer, you need to bring excitment to something to get casual fans excited. Sure, sometimes it's over the top, but if you're watching a boring ass game and he's just calling it like it is, then who really cares? If he starts getting hyped, a lot of people will get caught up in that. Another thing we have to realize is he isn't a pro at this, and is somewhat new to it. An example, Losira vs MC game 2 at MLG. Without him, it sounds like LosirA is desperate to try and do something to MC while MC just turtles hard into the win, but Day9 raises tons of points and brings excitement to EVERYTHING that is going on. Also, he MUST keep calling the crowd with his screams; They are spectators that traveled to the tournament, and they deserve to be part of it, not just some korean BS who just sit down and watch the game while clapping now and then for something 'cool'. Day9 makes EVERYTHING exciting, for live viewers and home viewers.

Please don't make sweeping generalizations about Korean esports scenes. Like Michael Jackson always used to tell me, thats ignorant. There were plenty of times that day9 was.. a little over excited. And most of the time it made for great casting. Occasionally though I would look at my screen confused. This isn't trying to take away what an amazing job he did. DH was just awesome with his casting.

This includes the non-sc2 nerds who, as they walk by the venue, peek in and hear "Brilliant Storm!" the crowd cheering and giant monitors shining bright with lighting flashing across the screen and for that non-sc2 nerd to go "what's a storm?" and walk in. The caster should allow the girlfriend or boyfriend of an sc2 fan to sit beside them at an event and feel as if they know when to cheer (And not just because everyone else is cheering). day 9 is amazing at this. Tasteless is amazing at this. Biscuit, Wheat, etc... they are amazing at projecting what SC2 players feel when they are playing the game onto the crowd as the crowd watches the game. When your army moves in and you cast that perfect storm right on top of the bioball the only thought in your head is akin to "BRILLIANT STORM!" and Day 9 and the others of his ilk state that out loud. When you are someone who watches a lot of casts, you'll get tired of all this "excess stuff" much like true sports fan don't even need to see the game, they just turn on the radio and listen to announcers dictate plays. People who are already heavily entrenched into the sport only needs to know what happened and save their opinion of their excitement for themselves only. Those people will watch (and love) the game no matter who is casting, no matter how bad the lag. They've gone all in with their love of the game. Day 9 and others are here for everyone else. They are here so that when sponsors watch the event (to see if the money they spent was worth it) they see a throng of people cheering, casters yelling and flashy lights all over. They are here so when the significant others, the families, the friends can also be as excited as the players are. Day 9 and others are here for ESports, not just SC2 fans.
