It's too important of a gift with give out to anyone who had been a member for years just for applying. I like how all the people who have less than 500 posts are saying that anyone who has more has "clearly" spammed for every one of them. I have written short stories, upkeep a resource thread, have hosted a tournament and have given my input and help in various Q&A threads. Does that make you more deserving than me just because you've been here marginally longer? If you don't post much, then it's fair to say you don't contribute much to the community, so why should you get a key? Let's see a few of your past posts. You may rate yourself, if these posts contributed anything, so that they make you worth participating in the raffle, where as someone who visited this website for few years more than you , doesn't. You're posts really qualify you for this raffle. OMG! really...... and that's only in the past 2 days. are you kidding me`? edit : so TL says this guy deserves a spot in the raffle more than anyone else. That's in fact a pretty clear statement made by TL.net and shows what direction TL.net wants to go in the future. So, not 100% of my posts are thesises? So what? If I look at your posts they're not much better. Feliscolonori summed it up perfectly, without people posting, there aren't workers. If you spam you get banned, so it's a giveaway for people who aren't awful posters and post regularly. Well, we just stated that you are an aweful poster. So why do you qualify for the raffle, in your eyes? edit. ok i've got also some stupid posts but we still differ that I am not defending this 500 raffle that previliges spammers. You are. And you think you deserve it which is ridicolous. I at no point said I was an awful poster. I said all my posts weren't necessarily amazing contributions. And neither am I saying I deserve this, what I am saying is that I deserve it more than lurkers. If you look at the things I have contributed, such as hosting tournaments, upkeeping resource threads etc, it comes to a hell of a lot more than that guy that posts 10 times a year. You still don't get my point. If this raffle would only include marked quality posters I'd have no problem at all. That would have to be earned. Most of the people with more than 500 posts don't differ from the standard lurker with 50 posts. As I've found out above, about 90% of your posts are one-liners. So if you substract 90% of your posts, that would leave you with 90 post. Maybe 180posts if we are generous. And thus not deserving your raffle entry. Spamming content-less one-liners instead of just reading should not be rewarded in a way like this. Because seeing the past 10 of my 950 posts clearly denotes me as an awful poster. This is a silly argument, and the fact only people with over 500 posts are getting keys will not be changed.
I'm not only talking about you here, even though I'm very sure you don't have 500 posts that add content to this website. I'm talking about the average above-500-poster. Just look at one of the live threads, almost anyone there is above 500 posts. Posting nothing but one-liners.
I'm also not criticizing Live threads, because it may be fun for many to watch an event together with others in a forum thread.
The thing i'm criticizing is creating this raffle and only letting the above people in, even though others could deserve it more, or at least too. That is beyond fair understanding.

Whats with the 500 Post bull shit?? Make it by Join-date or something.... way to support longtime TL fans
I feel the need to quote DJWheat regarding the issue at hand:
This is Horseshit!
also yay for the 10% discount while I waited on the EU store. you may buy at 10% discount, it wil still cost you near double what other people pay
This is first time ever I feel let down by TL.
EDIT:
Gamegene (5k+ posts) was so nice to show why old guys with less then 500 posts feel shafted

Contribute to the site. Everyone should pitch in. Some people contribute by being helpful when someone posts a question. Some people contribute by writing interesting posts that stimulate discussion or by uploading relevant and useful facts and information. Some people contribute by posting news from the gaming world. Others contribute by providing resources allowing us all to enjoy this game. Still others contribute by simply making everyone laugh. Contribution can take many forms and there's no single prescribed way to go about it. But, like good micro, we know it when we see it. Many contributors will have stars or special icons by their name. It's not a license to do anything they want, but good contributors will always get favorable treatment.
For you this means, when you create a new thread, make sure to include content worth discussing in it. A link or youtube video is not enough. An opening post should set the tone for discussion by being thoughtful and well constructed. We will not hesitate to close threads that don't have enough OP content.

Quick! write "lol Blizzard sux!!!11!1" in every thread!
Nah - 'tis pointless. This giveaway is neato, though the post count requirement seems quite high.

And they say spamming is bad...

On a non-rage-related note; thanks for doing the give away TL.
Actually you should thank Blizzard, they donated the keys. TL is not giving away anything of theirs, they are celebrating by thumbing their nose at half their members.

I didn't imply, I was an old-schooler

Woohoo! I had made 515 posts since 2003 to just make the cutoff. I was seriously surprised as I still thought I was in the 400s. Thanks for the contest and good luck to everyone entering!

I think it bears repeating that part of what makes a poster on TL so 'valuable' is gauged by how much they contribute to the site. Sure people write < 140 character posts sometimes, especially if they visit LR threads, but they sometimes also offset those posts by writing or contributing in very large chunks or providing key services or resources to everyone here.
This doesn't really have a whole lot to do with the 500 post requirement other than to say that part of what TL is saying by this is that they would like to consider users who contribute in making their site thrive (at least by making some entrance stipulations). Is it going to include people who generally only post a metric ton in LR threads? sure. But it will also include people like monk who gives incredible contributions to this site (idk if he has a beta key, but he would be someone I would absolutely want to get a key). You know who it definitely won't include? lots of people who get warned or temp banned a lot.
As for people who don't post a lot, there's certainly nothing wrong with that and maybe a lot of users could do to lurk a little better (or maybe just think critically before they post), but you have to remember those people aren't really contributing a whole lot with this method, unless your posts are incredibly helpful/ well thought out in every single post you make. As an example I remember not too long ago someone blogging about finally reaching 1K posts...after having been a member of this site for more than 5-6 years (lol, or exactly like the guy above me ^^).
Basically there are a lot of reasons why a line at 500 was drawn, but that still allows a ton of people to be able to participate in this contest.
And with that I will derail this thread no longer. luck to everyone who enters.

500 posts? I need to spam more on tl
|
hmm, think you guys should also give out any future keys/prizes according to liquibets.
That seems to have the best luck-skill ratio instead of forum spamming.
(also, give it to people with the best threads/blogs [like Gheeds :D])

I'm on TL everyday I'm just quiet ok?
