I encountered an interesting glitch during my second playthrough of the campaign and haven't found any mention about it yet. I played Belly of the Beast, got the cutscene afterwards and then I ended up on the bridge of the Hyperion instead of Warfield's camp on Char.
The fun part: Apparently it was originally planned by Blizzard to return to the ship. There are new dialogues with Matt and Swann which refer to the nydus mission: Swann Horner Unfortunately there are none with Tychus or Stettman.
The archive includes all missions up to Char and the next mission from the mission selection screen is Gates of Hell. So now it's basically as if I never set foot on Char - just with new dialog options. I guess i'll try the air mission this time, maybe I get glitch dialogs for that, too. Or maybe I'll even end up in All In with neither air nor nydus. Yeah, doubtful...
|
Wow, thats really awesome. Thanks for uploading these to youtube for us all to watch.
I wonder if there is dialogue after completing the air mission too.
EDIT: Watching them again, there was a good amount of foreshadowing about what would happen when the artifact was used on Kerrigan and it shows that Raynor has been thinking about saving her for a long time now. Good cut-scenes overall.
|
Somehow i dont think this is a glitch or something, cause i can remember these cutscenes....
"if i fail, we are all dead man anyway" such a bad scene cant be forgotten
|
|
lol, nice find
reminds me i should play the campaign again at some points, 2 playthroughs isn't gonna cut it
|
Raynor: as long as there's a chance to bring her back I'll never give up Horner: but what if you fail? have you considered that? Raynor: Matt, if we fail, we'll all dead men anyways
(Horner: yeah, real nice of you to risk all our lives just so you can get your girlfriend back)
|
nice find.
The glitch I observed (post patch 1.1.1) is after replaying piercing the shroud, it will return me to hyperion with the next mission being maw of the void. (I had completed the campaign btw.)
But like green.at said, I seem to hear some lines of the dialogue somewhere, maybe they reuse it?
|
I have definitely heard those conversations before, can't remember when or how though
|
sigh. am i the only one who remembered what jimmy said in bw?
"Kerrigan, I will be the one that kills you one day. I'll be seeing you."
Now it's just this cliche feels good ending.
|
Yeah i was pretty disappointed at the ending.
Felt like a soap opera.
|
remember there is another campaign to come in the expac..... perhaps the queen of blades will somehow return? maybe she gets kidnapped again or something
|
"Kerrigan, I will be the one that kills you one day. I'll be seeing you."
Was this before or after he tried to appeal to what little conscience Kerrigan still had on the surface?
"How many must die efore you realise what you've become"?
And how do you figure Jim would murder someone who is seemingly defensless and quite clearly transformed at least physically, regardless of whatever she meant to him?
|
All this talk about the ending of WoL and the complaints about the way in which they went about ending the campaign is really frustrating to listen to because it'd be like dismissing the entire story of broodwar after just finishing the protoss campaign. There's still 2 more chapters to go and this is Blizzard that we're talking about. At least wait to see what they do in Heart of the Swarm before judging the series too harshly. I firmly believe that this is just the surface layer and there are many plot twists and unforeseen developments to come. Personally I can't wait.

Update: My game is really glitched up. I went into Gates of Hell (again) and after finishing it I once more ended up aboard the Hyperion. The next available mission of course being: Gates of Hell once more. It's like the Starcraft Groundhog Day.
But the good news is that there were even more conversations, this time referring to Gates of Hell: And here even the prince joins the fun. Suicide rush was a bad idea? Who'd have guessed? Horner Swann Valerian
Of course now I really wanted it all and messed around with the savegame where I had the choice between Belly and Shatter and took to the sky because Matt was so whiny about the fliers. Yes, it also led back to the ship - with more things to say: Horner is boring and just recycles most of his text, at least my friend Swann keeps on chatting. As if anyone needed even more not-so-subtle hints at what's to come. Horner Swann
Next mission: Gates of Hell.
I'd love to groundhog All In and bring Kerrigan back to the Hyperion and discover a secret conversation with Arcturus (or Duran even).

Waiting for more videos, hopefully you will get past the endless loop. Btw, how did u end up getting the glitches?

I've had the same glitch. The good thing is, I was doing a playtrough without upgrades on the savegame I used and I still had all the money I saved up from the last mission. I'm sitting on 1.3m, only halfway trough in the storyline now Should be fun to play the last missions with maxed units ^^
|
Hah! This was a weird find indeed.
|
Wow!
These are freaking awesome - thanks a bunch.
|
Why would they remove some of these conversations? I'd have thought that at least the bit with Swann on Kerrigans odds of survival would have been good for anyone who is unfamiliar with SCI. The other conversations also added to the sense of the whole attack going terribly wrong. Maybe Blizzard figured that it would be kind of dumb for Raynor to be having all of this time for chatting with the crew in the context of a horribly executed invasion?
|
It's not a glitch, you just haven't finished one of the earlier missions. I was in the same spot for a few days until I look at the past missions I had played and one or two of them wasn't completed. I think it was the one where you get those pink gas things and return them to base.

any way cool glitch but those cutscenes seem normal im no expert
|
Probably it's laziness on Blizzards part. they probably intended you to get to the ship after those missions. Then they just decided - "you know what? screw this. Let's make a new scene" . They did that and probably forgot to 'comment' the code for returning part. I guess somehow you triggered it.
|
Laziness? You don't think maybe it was intentional? I thought about a bit more, and staying on the hyperion actually sounds a lot like something that Arcturus would do, wheras Jim is the total opposite of him in every way. He nearly always chooses to go for the classic cowboy style of doing things the hands on way where the danger is greatest. He's always been like that, ever since we had his disobey the confederacy when he was a Mar Sara marshall. Jim staying on the Hyperion for something like the Char invasion might seem kind of unusual.
|
Did anyone else burst out laughing when Raynor said "git r done"?

I doubt that was the reason cause I finished the campaign (29/29). But maybe I should replay the Char missions, might bring me back to Hyperion just like Piercing the Shroud. Hmmm...

Heh, definitely channelling Larry the Cable Guy there.

You misinterpreted the OP, he returned to the Hyperion after Belly of the Beast, not All In. Therefore he is still alive.
|
So, I'm curious. I always wind up on the planet with some spare cash. If I remember correctly, once you're on the planet you're locked out of any additional mercenaries and/or upgrades. Does this allow you to spend the last of your cash?
|
They may wanna keep tychus alive in HOTS. Taking out these dialogues would make that sort of possible instead of affirming his death 100%?
|
"I'll never give up on her."
vs
"It may not be tomorrow, darlin', it may not even happen with an army at my back. But rest assured: I'm the man who's gonna kill you one day."
I also enjoyed the first related video in the one with Matt. Mai Nishida Prt. 1, eh?
EDIT: Scratch that, she has terrible teeth.

More like
"We gotta stop her Matt. No matter what she's after"
vs
"It may not be..." Oh... wait... I think the game is trying to tell us something.
Maybe... maybe that Jim, had still desired to kill the infested Kerrigan, and also, at the same time, wished that there was a way to change her back to before? Implossible!
|
The only conversation of value is the one with swann, where he talks about people going through him to get to kerrigan. Which is definitely a foreshadow of whats to come in HotS.

well, Jim Raynor actually killed the queen of blades, the infested Kerrigan is no more right now, the real Kerrigan is back, but who knows? the Protoss say that the only cure for the infestation is purification by fire.(meaning no cure) while dr. Ariel Hanson had her own ideas and beliefs. There is also the superior technology of the Xel'Naga. I guess Blizzard have plenty of lore to work around with.
|
I wonder if you could do this before the final Ariel mission, so you can check her for a convo as well. And also get spectres so you can talk with Tosh.
How did you edit your save? Can you edit it to get those two chars on the Hyperion?
|
I did not edit anything. I just played Belly of the Beast and some random unexpected glitch apparently caused the game to lose the 'you're on char now' information. So I ended up on the ship then and again on all subsequent mission attempts (with that savegame and those following it). The damage apparently happened after playing Gates of Hell because I could reload that save and pick the air mission with the same result.
Whatever caused it, Blizzard fixed it. After the last patch everything was completely back to normal. Loading those savegames now puts me on char and not the Hyperion any more. It's now like all of that never happened - except that I have videos.
|
Maybe Raynor just felt really angsty and shit at first when he lost his little gf and was like "dat bitch, I gotta get revenge on her mang" but then later on he started craving her and his relationship again and decided to have a little change of heart
|
Hrm ya, they REALLY needed to get these into the actual game since they fix a TON of the problems with the fact that Raynor just trusts arcturus jr, namely that it completely breaks his character.
|

I hate how so many people feel this way, what you see at the end of WoL is not the ending, its like a commercial break, we've still got two more xpansions worth of story before we get the actual ending, so don't feel like this was the end result and everyone is living happily ever after somewhere.
