Note: The SC2 Single Player Forum is now the HotS Beta Forum until the expansion is released, and then it will be the Single Player forum again.
HELLO TEAMLIQUID
Liquipedia wouldn't be Liquipedia if we weren't trying our hardest to help the StarCraft community. No longer will we restrict ourselves to the multiplayers players, nay! We will try to also give the Single Player mode a place in our beloved wiki. Take into account that we have the largest SC community on earth contributing to the project and the result can be no less than the ULTIMATE walk-through.
Of course though, we need your help! We're still kind of figuring out what needs to be done, but for starters we've set up a framework to help any and all who want to contribute. To start an article on a new mission, please use our http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/MissionTemplate It's superduper easy to use! Simply c/p it into a new page and fill in the blanks.
We have the main Campaign page located here: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Campaign , which will be the hub of all our work on the Single Player!
We've also started to work on a couple of missions: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Campaign/Liberation_Day http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Campaign/The_Outlaws and we'll soon be adding Mission 3 and more. Please read these articles and if you have anything to add, please do so. The default difficulty for the guide is probably going to be Brutal, so take that into account
And last but not least we're launching a new channel on the quakenet IRC: #LPWalkthrough. Here we can discuss the campaign and how to get it into the wiki. As #teamliquid and #liquipedia are kept spoiler-free, please use this channel to discuss any and all campaign issues.
Hope to see you on the wiki!

Did anyone beat Zero Hour on Hard?
What's the best way to kill the hatcheries?

I think you should rework the achievement tables that were used, it has all this extra space to the left like there should be a portrait there but there isn't so that space should just go away

+ Show Spoiler [Strategic Advice] +Just makes TONS of marines with some medics to heal.
Don't worry about defense too much - they don't usually attack from the side you're attacking. I just stuck with 1 bunker on the left side (keeping the army I was building over on that side) and 2-3 on the right. I salvaged the 2 bunkers on the high ground at and used the minerals to get off too a fast start. Keep about 3 scvs by the bunkers to repair with a couple medics to heal those scvs. I generally move out when the second camp calls out for help. You should have a decent force of marines and medics at this point (I usually try to keep about a 4 or 5 : 1 ratio of marines to medics) After I grab them I attack the bottom left (if I remember right there is 2 hatcheries there). When I did it I just kind of poked in slowly and dragged a few units out at a time to fight me - try not to engage units and spine crawlers at the same time, it is just unessecary losses. After you kill most of the units and spine crawlers at this base - just take down the hatcheries and back off immediately (leave drones alive). When I was doing this the computer rebuilt the hatcheries at this location and i was able to take them down while morphing for the achievement. Don't forget to be constantly making marines/medics to reinforce from your barracks. It's pretty easy if you don't over invest in defense. Mod Edit: Just spoilered the Info

We are basically a good bunch beyond what the OP states now. There might be 10ish missions still missing and some have the basic data but lack a kind of guide.

That's a great source, but we don't only need data, we need you to transfer it into our articles

Don't have a lot of time at the moment but I'll see what I can do later this evening. Sorry

Very cool! Thanks for doing this!

what we'll also need is a mission 'timeline', a little graph that shows which missions are unlocked after which, and what units and upgrades are available with them. also helps to know how much each armory upgrades are, to help plan out the costs

Mission timeline is tricky. There is a direct prerequisite, which is the previous mission in the line, but there's also another requirement which I'm not sure of.
In any case, I just made the research and Armory pages full of everything that I know. Unfortunately I already researched a lot of Armory upgrades, so if anyone could fill in the remaining techs that I haven't gotten to, or add in the costs for the upgrades I've already gotten, that'd be awesome.
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Campaign/Armory http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Campaign/Research
Also, if you want to add in some commentary/additional information about each individual upgrade, go right ahead.

I have added the relevant info for the 8 missions from the blog of Raelcun as I mentioned before but he has just put up a new blog with the details for a further 12 missions on Brutal.
http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=140018
As I'm going to bed could somebody else look into these? If not I'll pick it up when I awake tomorrow.

I added a note to the 'Outlaws' page that the tank only appears on Brutal, I know the intended difficulty for the guide is Brutal but I think it's still worth mentioning, I hope that's alright
With regards to the mission timeline, this pic was posted here by Kuangtu on Starcraft.incgamers, from the Collector's Edition of the official guide to the game:
+ Show Spoiler [Picture inside] +
It's interesting to note the little boxes in the top right corners which state how many missions you need to have done before the specific mission becomes available. It seems like you can skip a lot of missions if you really want to.
I'd be willing to edit the wall of text I wrote in the Engine of Destruction - Brutal thread into something a little more streamlined since it seems to be one of the only posts that deals with completing that mission on Brutal as soon as it's available as opposed to when you have access to science vessels, BCs, or even Vikings, Tanks etc.

The guide is certainly meant for Brutal, but any notes for lower difficulties are always welcome.
Ah many thanks for the picture too, exactly what I needed :D. Interestingly enough, Maw of the Void is labeled as "Tychus5" in the data files, but it's a Valerian mission in the picture. In any case, that'll be helpful, thank you again!
Any help that you could give would be awesome as always. This is a community project after all!
And thanks for your work GoldenGhost, I saw all your edits!

Maw of the Void is part of the Artifact/Tychus line of missions in achievements too.
|
There seems to be some confusion on how the secret level and the 3 'choice' missions work in regards to achievements:
-completing all 29 missions on normal/hard/brutal -getting the achievements for those 4 missions
I think there should be a guide for this
|
i might help since i just got sc2 yesterday and im playing the missions, ill write a few things and then add them to liqui
|
Could you guys put a link to the guide from the main liquipedia page? That would be easier

The Armory and Research pages are now done thanks to many contributors, especially pachi for filling in a lot of the Armory info, but now we need your help for the http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Campaign/Mercenaries page! The outline is there, the only thing is that we don't have the initial hiring cost, nor do we have the hiring cost in the mission itself. Any help is appreciated!
We're also getting close to finishing off the main guide for each mission in the entire campaign. If you want to help out and write some stuff or add in additional information for any mission in the campaign, that'd be awesome! Right now a lot of the missions only have one strategy, but additional strategies are always welcome!

I feel like an idiot, i was looking for the campaign sc2 maps under usual extensions but couldn't find it but it turns out they already provide you with a tab when you choose open file in the map editor
I'm hoping to see if there are any interesting triggers esp dealing with when you'll be attacked on what time during certain maps, although currently so many triggers is just a mess to understand what comes under brutal conditions.
Things like in havens fall + Show Spoiler [haven fall details] +The first infestation that happens at 7 oclock is after 280 in game seconds
And then it goes in the order 3 oclock 4 oclock 1 oclock middle if i'm reading the triggers right. The times of infestation are there but there seems to be a delay of +60sec after you kill 1 zerg base on avg it's a wait of 300 sec between infestation, on fastest ionno what that is i forget the time modifier. It also seems that it's impossible for them to create an infestation if you destroy any overlords above a colony as they hold 1 drone to build the virophage that or placing a building over the center of the base where the virophage would spawn
you also only have 60 in game seconds to destroy the building virophage

Are the guides supposed to be just for the campaign or how to do things with getting the achievments? Like I've replayed some of the first missisons to get the achievments and you have to go about it differently.
ie the outlaws one: Basically to do it in under ten minutes I had to change my entire approach. At the start put a reactor on my barracks asap, pump out scv's and marines at the same time with no more than two in either que, build supply depos as needed. Take out the first base when I got enough marines and fly my barracks over with the barracks and tech lab they give you. Then put a reactor on it again and pump out more marines and pump medics out of the barracks with a tech lab. Get a nice sized army and attack the final base while still pumping marines out and setting the rally point so that they came right to where I was fighting. The first time I did that mission I was just lazy about it.
|
Reliable strategy to get all 3 achievements under brutal seems well brutal, i got most of my achievements playing under hard then just replaying the mission in brutal. Like zero hour trying to get all 3 achievements on brutal is super hard compared to just turtling in.
So i think it should be separate maybe a footnote on how to get the achievements at the bottom of the page.

It's totally fine to include multiple guides for different levels of difficulty / or for gaining achievements.

It's so awesome to see this project grow so rapidly! Makes me proud guys What I'd like to see though are some more (instructive) images. Also I'm almost finished with the campaign so I'll start helping out soon! :3

This is why I love TL so much can't wait till this is all finish.

Teamliquid strikes again with more useful information.

It must be the source of that 1% everyone's been missing in campaign completion.

As far as suggestions go perhaps a page with a list of suggested mission orders would be good. For example, doing 'The Devil's Playground' before 'Outbreak' could be considered wise, since Reapers can dispose of buildings quickly and traverse the map in no time as well. A list of orders and which missions they made easier could be really helpful.

Yeah we talked about doing the "Megaman analysis" but we haven't gotten around to it yet after initially finding out everyone played it differently.
|
Splendid idea, and should help suck in more contributors than multi alone. Looking forward to writing SP achievement guides!
|
I know I posted this on the blog page already, but I wanted to make a contribution to the effort, was told on the IRC to post a video Walkthrough on the Whispers of Doom page. Hoping it gets approved.

Not a bad guide, not sure I would call it the ultimate SC2 campaign guide, but looks like it can be a big help.

Pholon i noticed the Unit Statistics is under the Pages That Need Work exactly what is it missing? i've only skimmed over it and doubled checked some of it and it all seems right. So the only thing wrong with it would be formatting it to look like the sc1 version. The only thing i can do for it adding content wise is add a guide on where to find these values for up coming patch changes.
Also if i use [ wiki ] for unit statistics i get the sc1 is there was a way say i want the wiki link for the sc2 version.
Unit Statistics
Unit Statistics
edit: lol i found it on a guess wiki2

At the moment it's filling up quite nicely. What we're looking for in terms of improving is some visual aids (images). Remember you have to outblink some banelings at some point in one of the Zeratul missions? A how-to image would help a lot I think
