yeah i don't know what the global feed commentators are on about when they said that norway were lucky with that pen call - spence literally put his leg in front of bobb to draw the foul.

i think haaland wasn't feeling well or something, there was a moment by the end of the 2nd half that he looked really weird, like resting his hands on his knees. im not sure if he was just tired or if that is his usual.

That was an awful brainfart by the ref, he saw a GK down and blew, even though he crashed with his own teammate. Then a yellow for protesting.

Yeye, Norway gave it all. It was barely not enough.

Also screw diving, not the proudest part of the sport.

that was unbelievable, how could he stop a play like that.
now a little joke, it's the 2nd world cup that norway defeats brazil and is eliminated in the following match. i think it's better for both countries if brazil and norway don't face off again!

the better team lost but my god bellingham is clutch. what a player he is and what a tournament hes having.

that said, england 100% gonna get knocked out by argentina. and they are 1000% not beating spain or france. they got absolutely dominated by norway for most of the game. this rice/anderson midfield has not impressed me at all. forest winning the jackpot with that sale and laughing all the way to the bank

Fantastic effort by Norway. Sad they are out, but oh well. Knowing that we knocked out Brazil and were arguably the better team vs England in the quarter finals - we're all just super proud anyway.

Aside from Sørloth, who had a poor championship anyway, basically the entire team has another 8 years in them. It's possible we can go even further in a wc/ec with some more luck. Top 8 is amazing for a team like Norway no matter how you slice it.

Tbh If you can't see why city paid that for Anderson you aren't watching him enough ir looking at his stats.

Even just in this game when you weren't impressed he had the most duels won, most successful tackles, most interceptions, he was constantly organising the players around him and his long range passing was great.

Anderson was great. Him and Bellamy were England's best players. And Norway started dominating the game after Rice was subbed off.

Yeah England never really recovered from taking Rice off, even though he wasn't 100%

Playing him out of position with Haaland and then having neither target man at the end for all those crosses was uninspired in hindsight.

It worked really well in the qualifiers. Sørloth looked great as a winger/target man then. So I understand that Solbakken wanted to stick to what had been a winning formula. Oscar Bobb is also the type of player who excels when he's up against tired defenders.

But yeah in retrospect I think it was a poor choice to start him and especially in this game I kept calling to sub him much earlier. Wonder if Nusa or Schelderup could work on the other side.

Haaland is not known for his stamina. There is a reason he was subbed, and it should probably have happened before.

To be fair, England defended with a lot of heart, both against the technical Bobb and Nusa at the sides, and Haaland in the middle. It is not easy, Norway threw absolutely everything they had at them.

The clinical difference maker turned out to be Bellingham this time.

how are those stats meaningful at all? who is his competition for those stats? rice who left the game early? or a norwegian player when theyve got the ball most of time already anyway? he was the only dm who played the whole 120 minutes. if he wasnt topping those stats there would be a massive problem.

the fact is england havent seriously controlled the midfield throughout the whole tournament with rice/anderson as a partnership. and its not like theyve played teams like spain, france, portugal etc that you would expect to outperform england anyway

England don't really play to control the midfield.
All of our attacks come down the sides or go long up front.
If you look at Anderson and Rice's passing it is mostly link up between the defence and the wingers, its not going to dominate matches.
There's also the fact that Anderson's job in this match was obviously to stick to Odegaard like glue and stop him from creating.

England's first goal, how does it start? Interception by Anderson.

Very sad that it's over, but very well fought - they should really be quite proud of what they've achieved! While I feel Norway was the better team, I do think England played quite well. Would be fun if they reclaim the title on the 60th anniversary of the drought!
It's ok. I still love you <3

Also - kind of insane that Patrick Berg plays in the Norwegian league. Probably not for long - he's been one of our best players the entire tournament.
