- 26th January 21: Inherits a team in 9th with an extraordinarily leaky defence and 2 games extra played than teams around them in the table. Instantly tightens things up and improves results. - 18th April 21: Super League announcement. Chelsea are the first club to back out two days later. - 23rd May 21: Chelsea finish in 4th, a huge improvement from when he took over. - 29th May 21- Wins Champions league final against City. - 23rd November 21: Ben Chilwell ACL rupture (season out). - December 21 - At halfway point of league, has Chelsea neck and neck with City and Liverpool. - Late December 21: Lukaku interview comes out of nowhere. - 29th December 21: Reece James hamstring injury (2 months out). 3rd to 12th February 22: Club World Cup campaign results in victory. Participating causes a large fixture crunch for an already injury stretched squad. - 26th February 2022: Abramovich attempts to hand over club stewardship to Chelsea foundation in response to expected sanctions due to Russian invasion of Ukraine two days prior. - 27th February 22: Literally the day after, lose EFL Cup final on penalties to Liverpool - 10th March 22: Sanctions announced due to Abramovich ownership. Club completely thrown into turmoil. Put up for sale, cannot sign new players, cannot negotiate new contracts with existing players, essentially hamstrung. - 14th May 22: Lose FA Cup final on penalties to Liverpool. - 22nd May 22: Despite all the sanctions, injuries and bad luck, Tuchel manages a third place finish. - 30th May 22: New owners confirmed. Chairman Bruce Buck, Sporting Director Marina Granovskaia and Technical/Performance head Petr Cech all leave their roles. - May to July 22: Key defenders Rudiger and Christensen leave after running their contracts down. Lukaku leaves. - 14th August 22: Sent off after draw with Spurs and talks shit about the referee's decisions. - 7th September 22: Tuchel sacked after losing an away Champions League game against a tricky opponent. I would be pretty pissed off if I was him. He's done an extraordinary job considering the circumstances. Two cups finals lost on penalties, a Champions League and a Club World Cup title, consistent league position despite large obstacles.

Basically, he's like Mourinho but without the charisma to motivate players. P.S. It does seem like he had his way in signing this season's players. Auba is surely his pick of the bunch. So I can't see the new owners being blamed for not being supportive.

We don't know what happens behind the scenes in the dressing room or on the training ground. Or maybe he just has some personal tics that upsets the board of top teams. Whatever the real reason, his short stints at PSG and Dortmund suggest that there's something about him that doesn't gel with the demands of top teams.

I am not sure about this combination of Dortmund and top team being in the same sentence.

These guys cleaned up Spurs 3-0 at home in the Europa League knockouts last year. They are no pushovers at home

His spikiness tends to be in managing upwards and clashes with boards, directors of football and owners, and less so in his relationships with those beneath him in the chain. I don’t think he necessarily ‘lost the dressing room’, although my pet theory is Chelsea have been lacklustre since his divorce and that bled through to his relations with players.

I personally think he should have been told today he is on thin ice and needs to turn it around or they would have no choice to relieve him of his duties, but to point blank fire him today is brutal, Roman brutal! He like others have stated has guided us through a horrid time where it looked like the club could go under due to sanctions on Roman and the club being frozen, he deserved a bit of a longer run than normal. On Potter getting the job (almost certain now, he is having a famous dinner date with Todd as we speak!) i am happy for him first and foremost, guy deserves a big pay day, also as an Englishman getting a top top job in football, this does not happy often, the last time a top 6 club was managed by an Englishman was Chelsea and Lampard, before that it was Spurs with Harry Redknapp, before that i dont think there was one? I hope it all works out from a fan point of view as that means we are winning and we all are happy, but secondly i dont want him to "ruin" his high stock he has right now, he has done great and deserves a top job and a good crack at it.

Yes, I was just wiki-ing him up and saw that bit about his divorce earlier this year (and end to a 12-13 year marriage). So that may explain his 'head not being in the right place'. And the wiki page does explain a fair bit about his clashes with management at PSG and Dortmund! I'm sure the players deeply respect him, like a father figure. But he just doesn't invoke the same fire in them like Klopp or Mourinho. Anyway, a pity to see him gone, because he's definitely added more spice to the EPL.

"You will play less than 30 minutes for a while, so we don't have to buy you next summer." - is not the best motivational speech at the start of the season.
