He should be able to live plenty lavishly already. Greed is real though!
Or maybe he wants to start a charitable foundation! I'd respect that, I guess.

Not really a relevant discussion though - people are different, but if I had even lingard money I'd ignore any offer that didn't interest me if I disregarded the salary. I feel this way outside the world of sports too yeah this is pretty much my thoughts too. a lot of players have made more than enough money for them to be set for life, even if they didnt work a single day after retirement. the argument that footballers have short careers and therefore need to take the high paying jobs they can get doesnt work anymore for the elite players in football. id rather play for my pride, legacy or a number of other reasons than choose a larger financial package that in reality makes nearly zero material difference to my livelihood if ive already been banking millions per year for a number of years

I feel this way outside the world of sports too That's because we have normal spending patterns and that much money means we're set for life. Top football players have been making a ridiculous amount of money since they were young and many spend it all. I worked at a private bank for a while and they did not even really want most football players as a client because of that. There wasn't much left to invest and if there was it'd be gone a couple of years after retirement.

I feel this way outside the world of sports too This kind of money is money that sets up generations of your family though, starts an empire for your great grand kids let alone your immediate family though, that is what i mean about its crazy to not take the money. You are kicking a ball around a field, if someone wants to give you half a billion to do so, then you take that.

If I’m a fucking multi, multi millionaire is that really worth it? 1/2 years of your prime years, with young kids. Hey you’ll make bank anyway, do you wanna spend it there?

Obviously when it comes to funny offers from joke leagues like the Saudis, MLS, China or whatever there now suddenly more things to consider.

Struggling on the home grown player quota though. Oxlade Chamberlain and Milner leaving left a gap there.

Steven Gerrard has been appointed as the new head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq, the club have confirmed. “Where legends are found. We’re thrilled to announce Steven Gerrard is our new head coach,” said the club in a post on Twitter. The former Rangers and Aston Villa manager had recently distanced himself from the role but has seemingly had a change of heart. In June, Gerrard said he “received an invitation to look at a potential offer” but that he would not be going ahead Source
