I mean what DNA are we talking about in a club with a lack of a central through line? He’s an excellent coach with a big rep, he’s proven to be able to handle egos. He makes players better, be repurposes players deemed redundant and gets a tune out of them too, look at Victor Moses at Chelsea as a wing back. It took a bit but he really seems to be getting a tune out of Spurs, said as they’ve just gone 2-0 up and seemingly into the ascendancy for the top 4 race.

The way he moulds a team is normally though buying experience and Yanited didn't want that, they didn't want a bunch of 28 year old+ signings keeping them in the hunt for titles and such. Gary Neville has been a huge voice in the media about this and its utterly crazy. Under Fergie they signed a few youngsters, not many worked out but some did like Ronaldo and Rooney, but he still signed just good solid players like Park Ji and Evra that were good for them. Whenever Fergie went into the market im sure he didn't think about age and "is this the right value player for the club" he went to find the best player right for him. So whenever Neville speaks like this i just chuckle to myself thinking that he clearly doesn't know what Fergie was thinking and doesn't understand what it takes to win when you are the manager (clearly knows as a player). Ten Haag is pretty much getting that job now and he will take 18 months to put his "philosophy" into place and if that goes wrong and it still doesn't work for them, they are another 2 seasons in struggling to get top 6 again let alone top 4! All because people with influence like Neville say coaches like Don Conte "aren't the right fit"

and hilariously, his PR response wasn't "hey, i'm sorry, i'll buy a new phone for you", but it was "hey, i'll offer you to watch a game at old trafford" which right now is a much worse offer LOL + Show Spoiler + ![]()

Don't like Thiago starting in that midfield for Liverpool with how offensively they are lined up....City starting Jesus who struggles to score but does give them more of a rounded approach up front.

If their squad wasn’t so absurdly deep, I could see them take the eye off the ball as the Champion’s League is the Promised Land for them and the one they haven’t won. Liverpool have their fingers in even more pies too, so there is that, but I think if they could choose they’d want another league title, whereas City will want that Champion’s League, so even a slight shift in focus could make a difference.

Then again they've had some games where they don't score first and then it seems to be a bit of a coin flip. Some teams seem to be able to shut them down and create trouble. I do think they may still drop points in surprising games, especially with the UCL and FA Cup still working as disctractions. Then again fully fit De Bruyne is scary stuff and may secure them a triple almost by himself.

That season, Liverpool and City both won their last 9 games (actually 14 for City) and City ended up clinching it 1 point ahead of Liverpool. ![]() 3rd 4th and 5th were Chelsea Tottenham Arsenal, United was 6th (currently 7th, behind west ham on goal difference + 1 more game played). Curious if it holds! ![]()
