Di Matteo’s side scraped through to that triumph, he didn’t really stamp anything authoritative in style or sustained improvement. Tuchel has transformed them quite quickly to being an elite level side, and crucially you can see what he’s trying to implement by what’s happening on the pitch. Plus a significant bonus he’s started getting a tune out of some very expensively acquired assets. Stranger things have happened but I think it would be a mental decision if they did turf him out. | ||

Chelsea has a tough run of games, so he has to prioritise on the ones that matter. Things are complicated by the coincidence of meeting key rivals twice during this period (Leicester and MC). It's unrealistic to win all of the games, so maybe he's testing different lineups and tactics in the first games? Winning CL Final is instant glory and ticket to CL next year - so the second match against MC carries more weight Likewise, it's arguable that finishing Top 4 and getting into CL is more important than winning FA Cup. Still, it's concerning that Chelsea defeated City but lost to Arsenal in the league. Makes more sense for Tuchel to have focused on crushing Arsenal and hiding his cards from City (play for a draw). Another blip was losing 5-2 to West Brom. In short, the highs and (unexpected) lows in Tuchel's record reveals some crack in his armour - that his long-term strategy isn't going as well as planned. | ||

Already bunch of bad news for Germany: Ter Stegen has a knee OP and will not participate. Kroos has Covid and is quarantined for 14 days. Hope both get well soon. Tomorrow the official extended team for Euros will be announced for Germany | ||
