Arsenal vs Forest in the Carabao Cup next Tuesday, of course. Will Arsenal get revenge for the absolute nailing we gave them in the cup a couple of years ago? Will Forest destroy what is likely to be Arsenal's youth reserve team again? WHO KNOWS??

PSG vs Real game is literal 50-50 with it being Hazard and Neymar's practical first games of the season too. Other than the Liverpool vs Napoli game the rest look rather dull, but being dull compared to PSG vs Real and Barca vs Dortmund isn't exactly saying much! Interested in Chelsea's formation vs Valencia more than anything after debuting 3 at the back vs Wolves on Sautrday and then we have to invite Liverpool to Stamford bridge on sunday as well.

While that is certainly unexpected, we're still very early in the season. Liverpool were 10? points clear at one point around christmas last year as well. Way too early to call anything. Although City's central defenders look very subpar without Laporte.

Like you say a long way to go and Liverpool have to go to Qatar for club world championships in December which puts them 2 games behind.

But I would agree that this feels different and dropping 5 points in 5 games when the race was so tight does seem like a lot. Pande is right however, 2 makeup games for the club world cup with the fixture congestion and the newly added winter break is going to make for an insane schedule in February - April.

But yea Liverpool look as good at the start of this season as they were looking at the end of the last one. However looking at last season, they started off the first 20 games with a 17-3-0 then, too. I guess they are pretty amazingly hungry for a PL title, I mean imagine being Liverpool, not having won a single PL title, having a 97 point season and then still not getting the trophy..

Most false 9s I recognize are already past their prime or tied down to key roles in other world class teams (as may be the case with Brandt now too).

Firmino can play at that level for at least another 3 years if he stays fit. So if you are looking for a backup you need to go for someone past his prime or a young up and comer. I agree though, losing Firmino would hurt Liverpool a lot. Yeah. I was hoping Brandt might be able to flexible enough to fit into multiple roles to get sufficient playtime despite the solid front 3 Liverpool has. In Leverkusen he seemed to play all over the midfield and attacking roles, at least on the stats I saw. I'm not sure how tough that is for a player though, it's probably easier to sit down and figure out one position rather than drifting around as a constant #2 pick for 3 or 4 different positions.

A situation like that sucks balls. Been there myself (obviously not as good ^^' ) Almost never got my preferred role, always backup for someone else because I was pretty versatile and could play decent as left/ right wing defender, wide midfielder and even left/ right winger (both feet strong, faster than 95% of my peers, always pushing for goals). This led me to switching clubs and ultimately quitting football for good because I was THAT unhappy.
