Also holding your ground in the top 4 in the premier league is quite a low bar this year. Everyone is struggling except Liverpool domestically in England. A theme that seems to continue across much of Europe as well. Big boys not looking as good as they should be.

I'm even more worried for next Barca games, Alba/Suarez/Dembele/Pique injuried, Busquets/Vidal pausing for cards, rough stuff. Glad for Bayern, they played pretty damn good match. Boys deserves to get CL finals <3 Barcelona with 12 players for that match. The board's incompetence these last years is abysmal.

I don’t think it’s an excuse for some of the failings of the Barca board, although the two Madrid clubs not really pushing them in La Liga hasn’t helped either. That said I don’t think it’s entirely complacency either, they’ve splashed out big money but reinforcing in the wrong areas, or on players who haven’t worked out.

I also don't like how he said we were vastly outmatch and that is where we need to be to compete with Europe's Elite as that is terrible. For a start like i mentioned he got the tactics wrong and secondly Bayern have had a poor season with us having top attacking players missing. He should not be starting Mount and Barkley in a champions league last 16 tie that is for sure they are two young (in mounts cast) and inexperienced (in barkleys case) to be having that kinda responsibility. Play Willian or something from the start, crazy naiavity from Lampard there. The game was summed up on finishing which is Bayern's speciality this season, while they have been poor and have had injuries making them look even worse, they still have been scoring for fun. Lewandowski is in like the form of his life with the goals he has been banging in and everyone is still baffled how Gnarbry has turned himself into a top world class winger with how he showed up as a kid. But the goals they scored were always getting in behind us, cutting it back across goal for a tap in (2 of the 3 goals, the other goal a nice slip for Dave). We also had these chances (all be it at 3-0 down) to do the same but we never had anyone in the 6 yard box ready to tap it in, both Willian and Pedro gave us crosses like that as well as Reece James in the first half. The first goal was also a huge mistake because of a slip and we also had a huge chance to score in the second half when Mount was passed the ball too and Neuer was miles out of position, but he messed that up too. So i can't say we were battered into outclassed 3-0 scoreline without making a fist of it. We had chances, we took 0 of them and Bayern had all be it more better chances and took the lot basically, minus Muller hitting the bar. Bayern were Chelsea's worst possible opponents in terms of style, they are basically the same as Chelsea but with forwards who score goal. They have a sketchy back 4 and defensive play but play nice attacking football and score goals. We do that without scoring which is highlighted in that game. Oh well, we can always remind ourselves of 2012 when Bayern is mentioned after this humiliating defeat, oh and we also in fairness beat a way better Bayern side in 2005 xD

Thats true, after seeing the game, a 1:5 would have been the more fair.

I think it was maybe early for people to think Madrid could come back. They need more time to transition old players off and build the next generation. They're not playing bad, they did a good job in the first 60 minutes but they don't have that "power" they used to have to score goals anymore. Imo, the Madrid that won 4 CLs in 5 years wasn't that much better, they just were more clinical up front. Losing Ronaldo (and Marcelo :D) will do that to you I guess, and with Hazard injured and a golfing Bale you can't go too far.

Right now Juve still has all the tools to control and make it a 2-0 home game - but if Lyon gets the away goal, things start to get messy for sure. I guess it's a pretty similar situation in Liverpool - Atletico series too.
