And before anyone says hes only doing it for the title. Klopp has been criticising the stupid schedules of English clubs since the very first season he has been in England. I agree, however it will be interesting what the FA actually does about this, because he doesn't really have an excuse this time like he had during the carabao cup in December. The winter break is only an EPL, not FA, initiative after all. Then again I'm not sure Liverpool cares if they get fined/banned from FA competitions. So win win?

The only way they could fuck it up is if they have a huge load of injuries and just burn out from too many games) and having a good crack at the Champions League again. Having too many games is just becoming a victim of their own success. Not prioritizing the cups makes sense in a world where you are competitive in the Champions League (English clubs don't normally have a realistic chance of winning it). The FA and League cups are significant and fans value winning them. But they've been relegated to this less important than League and Europe position which wasn't true historically. The domestic cups aren't taken seriously until the later stages when the managers think "Oh there's a chance of a trophy here". That is a little sad but it's the reality of the modern game. Attendances are down across all the Premier League teams when they play in the cups which shows the fans feel the same way. Anyway I think most people here knew everything I just said. But Klopp is doing the right thing. The only criticism you can throw at him is why does he need rest and why isn't he going to be there with the youth team. I'm guessing he;s got a nice holiday booked and personally feel he's earned it. Agree with everything. Me personally, I feel his holiday his well deserved as well ^^ And I mean he is not boycotting in the sense. There will be a Liverpool team at the cup. Is just not his first or second 11, it's the youth team, with the youth manager (I think?)

As a (somewhat lapsed) Inter fan as well as a big fan of Eriksen as a player I’m pretty excited on both counts. I think the guy needed a new challenge and Inter could do with that little extra bit of guile.

I would have more sympathy for Liverpool's fixture pile-up if they had not played 7 preseason games in 3 weeks (including 3 games in the US and one in Switzerland). It is not only Liverpool. The big teams schedule these preseason games in the US or Asia to make money and the managers are normally very quiet about the extra travelling and matches then, but when there are cup matches to play the managers are very concerned that their big name players have not had a proper holiday.
