Morata scored! Funny how Chelsea Twitter totally ignored his miss XD
I felt Barkley's goal and assist masked an otherwise average performance. I have again the same issues with him. He doesn't bring the ball forward enough, always looking to release the ball. One particular moment near the 48th minute when he receives a ball from luiz and immediately passed sideways to jorginho despite having loads of space behind him. Luiz was visible frustrated...
I was more impressed by kovacic few minutes. So comfortable and confident with the ball. We really need our centre mids to link with our strikers if we want to proceed forward.
You hate my boy Barkley
I am well and truly biast in favor of Barkley because of potential and him being English, but still his stats today was the best passing accuracy of everyone at 94%. Gave a goal and assist. He played just like Kovacic with his pressing and passing and off the ball runs. Was his best game for us and still not even at his best, believe in him :D
I will not be impressed with him until he starts to make those runs. We already have a passer in jorginho whose role is to play simple passes to our attackers in space to attack. We don't need another of such passer in the field. Funny thing is that he likes to pass back to jorgunho lol.
Are you aware of what the manager's instructions to Barkley might be?
Perhaps it is to ensure possession and maintain position, playing high % passes. Rather than making lots of forward runs with the ball. He definitely has the potential to drive at defenders and make things happen but I imagine he has been told to balance his game and play in a certain way.

Yeah I kinda agree, it might just be in his instructions to play a certain way and let the Willians and Hazards to do more of the running and final ball play. So its unfair to criticize him on that front. There is nothing wrong with having Jorginho and Barkley passing to each other as much as they want as long as that ensure that the game is in control and the passing draws space.
The move in the first half where they were all involved including Barkley, then it goes out to Alonso, inside left to Hazard, skips past one, lays it off to Kante on the edge dead centre who rolls it back to Barkley who is deepest of them all and shoots from 30 yards. I think that is where he wants Barkley to be as he has that potential to score from distance.
The San Jose Earthquakes have officially named former Chivas Guadalajara manager Matias Almeyda as their new head coach on Monday, a striking appointment for a club laboring in last place in the overall MLS standings.
Originally broken on Sunday night by Joel Soria, editor of Quakes Epicenter, the news was also confirmed by Bay Area-based ESPN FC reporter Jeff Carlisle.
I'd love to know the catch in this contract at San Jose as they are one of the cheapest clubs on the planet. He must know he's about to be hired in a year or two by a national team.
3:15 he ask for the ball, receives it in acres of space but decides to pass to jorginho. Can't see in the video, but at that moment luiz threw his hands over his head in frustration.
4:07 received the ball from jorginho in space and immediately shirks offensive responsibility by passing back to him
4:15 Chelsea wins the ball back and Barkley has control of it but decides to pass to jorginho to let him start the attack
He does well sometimes, but observing him I keep seeing these moves. So yes his pass % may be high but who cares if its useless short passes to jorginho. We don't need 2 jorginhos in a midfield (+kante lol). We need more from Barkley. More runs, more forward passes etc...
Its funny cuz jorginho is our main man tasked with finding our attackers in space, because he is super good in doing so under pressure. But Barkley keeps slowing down and restarting the process, or maybe he wants to do the same thing??
Hazard is going to Real Madrid he'd be a fool to stick with Chelsea even if it turns out to be a disaster. Why would Real want to is the big question, on a player who has no La Liga experience and is a little older than say Charly Musonda.
I think the question is why wouldn't they want him. He's a top 5 player in his current form and I wouldn't worry about his lack of La Liga experience. He is 27 this year which is not the youngest but can easily play at his peak for the next 5 years.
zidane was the manager of real madrid's reserve team for 3 years before being promoted to the main squad. henry has been an assistant coach for the belgium national team since 2016.

problem as in winning several prestige trophies in each of his seasons (Zidane)? I guess other sports dont want their teams to win things? :o
