He's happy to win a big game against a big team. That's all

I looked around a bit, some of the closest battles: Bundesliga season 99/00: Bayer Leverkusen finished 2nd equal in points (73) with eventual winners Bayern München with a record of 21w 10d 3l Premier League season 11/12: Manchester City wins over Manchester United by goal difference, both teams finished the season with 89 points and a record of 28-5-5. La Liga season 09/10, Real Madrid finished 2nd with 96 points and only 4 losses, Barcelona won that year with 99 points and one loss. In the same year, Ajax came in 2nd behind Twente in Eredivise with 85 points and three losses, losing out by one point.

16 point jump from 2nd to 3rd, 16 point jump from 6th to 7th, 11 point jump from 7th to 16th. only 58 draws total from all games played (la liga, ligue 1 and serie a, other top leagues with 20 teams, have 94 94 and 89 with fewer games played) and liverpool or city will prolly get second place with a score high enough to win every season of PL except two. (or even one, if they both win all remaining games.)

So it's all on City that have to play Tottenham and United next. Now I really want to see a City Liverpool final in the CL, that'd be epic. The wolves game is a bit spooky for Liverpool. Wolves just seem to have their way vs top 6 teams and combined with the pressure of the season deciding game that could get very tense.

Like, the 13/14 season where Gerrard slipped vs Chelsea, that wasn't the worst collapse at all. In the game after, they were leading 3-0 against crystal palace until the 79th minute, but then conceded 3 goals in 9 minutes. Crazy stuff happens. But yea also agreed with the point that either way, the season has to be defined as a pretty massive success- for both liverpool and city. (Unless they go and do something like lose 3 of the remaining 4 games, in which case it ends up merely being 'pretty good'. ) If Liverpool gets 95+ points and get second place, their performance wasn't the problem, it's just bad luck to compete against the best team of the premier league era. The highest point tallies achieved by the winner of the different seasons (over what, 27 seasons?) has been 100, 95 and 91, I think the average is 86 or so. Getting to 95 and not winning is just unfortunate..

I genuinely think they should be favorites to win atleast the PL. CL has to high level opponents to say for sure. City is sure to drop points to my mind, and as desperate as the teams playing Liverpool may be. 1) They just arent very good 2) This Liverpool team has just so many weapons even an offday they will probably pull through. City has less margin for off days in their current run in and I have no doubt that both teams will have an off game a or maybe even 2 as you get to the tail end.

Relegation battle is between 7 teams right now, 14th is within 3 points of relegation and the EL race is on with between 4-9 and the CL race is on 4-8.
