You can say he out performed to Cristano or Messi stats but outside of those two, he is ahead of the curve. Huh? You agree that cross-era stat comparisons are meaningless. But then say that he's ahead of the curve? What curve? We just threw out the curve he's ahead of (the galacticos stats). He clearly isn't ahead of CR7 or Messi (or even in the same ballpark). So on what curve is he "ahead"?

pande is arguing that bale has been an asset to madrid over his entire career there, which is also correct. if the argument is that bale at madrid has overall been a failure then that would just be straight up false. alexis at united is what you call a failure

He might be in a bad spot for this season which i agree but he is and has been an important player for Real Madrid. Goal or Assist every 84 minutes last season for example. Here is that stat comparrison after he scored his 100th goal for the club between other Galacticos ![]() Bale is more of a finisher where as Zidane and Figo are creators. This is not a good comparison, aside from the different era. That's like comparing Kroos or Modric with Benzema. Really hoping for some underdog action today. Go Ajax, go Dortmund, I believe ![]()

He also minus goals is better than fat Ronaldo as well. He just gets injured a lot it seems. I would take him but the issue is now he is 30 in July, he is only going to get worst. I think Real will try to sell but mainly due to this is the last year they have being able to get some value for him. Where he goes im not sure though, because like i said he 30 now. That was true previous seasons, he was good when he was fit. But this season he has been fit most of the season and he really sucks every time he plays. This is one of his worst seasons despite CR7 not monopolizing the main role anymore, so I understand people are tired of him. His last match in el clásico was so so bad that he practically didn't touch the ball. And he hasn't been injured for a while.

There's no doubt Bale has tremendous talent, but just ask Madrid fans if he'll be remembered like those you're trying to compare him to xD Everyone wants him out. Being injured all the time makes him a worse professional athlete, as much as it's not his fault. On top of that, his attitude since he joined Real has never been the best, and this year, he's not even trying.

Also Zidane and Figo played in an era where defense was key

Figo is more a direct comparison i agree though and he out does him in all but assist stats. I thought we'd decided cross-era comparisons were pointless. Figo was playing in a time when the Liga was quite a bit more competitive. Sure, there would always be an Eibar or something that gets wallopped by big numbers, but in general, Real couldn't inflate its goal average as much as it can now. So automatically any attacker is going to look better playing in the '10s than in the early '00s.

I doubt Zidane's strengths could ever be backed by stats. Also Zidane and Figo played in an era where defense was key Exactly my thoughts. The only statistic that could be used is sth like "how many goals did the team score while the player is fielded" or sth along those lines. Or maybe the "packings" stats that became famous for the Euro 16

However the league also has something to play in those stats. Similarly Neymar's stats are ridiculous lol. Neymar - 20 goals 11 assists - 23 games (1917 min) G+A/m - 62min

![]() Stats can be seen in a very different light and have to be taken with a grain of salt . Now on to something else: Löw just announced he will not be needing the services of Boateng, Hummels and Müller anymore. That's pretty big IMO. What you you guys think?

It's not like we have an abundance of wingers or central defenders.
