His flaw is he is overcompensating to be Lebron's guy, but Lebron owns ESPN so if he pushed back at all he would instantly be slandered as a mega-Racist (they already have implied as much in numerous articles). Realistically, Lebron ostracized Boozer his first go round in CLE, then kept pushing for win-now moves that tanked the franchise. He left, then came back because they had the best assets in the East, and again began pushing for win-now moves (mostly signing 1 year deals with player options so as to control things), and again ostracized his #2 in Kyrie.

Sure, Gilbert could be better, but when Pat Fucking Riley made a few moves Lebron didn't like he complained to ESPN, ESPN slandered Riley and Erickson as cheapskates, then he booked it to CLE for greener pastures.

Maybe that's the difference between good FO's compared to bad ones. Heat is stable, Cavs is a cesspool. And now that you mention it, this is why LBJ's legacy as one of the greatest is tarnished. He is a diva with a posse of asskissers who do everything to protect his corporate image. Having said that, LBJ can do whatever he wants and Gilbert can do the same, they deserve each other.

Terrible comparison man. Not even in the same planet.

Jordan punched Kerr, bruised with Wellington, fought with almost the entire pre-1990s Bulls roster, battled with Magic for NBA Olympic supremacy, and all those nasty things... but please tell us when did Jordan act a diva for his brand's sake and not out of the killer instinct to win win the championship?

Name one.

i look at this situation as mostly lebron's fault. hey the team is shit? well u wanted these guys around u

u could blame the org for allowing him this much power, but lebron has all the leverage and theres nothing the cavs can do about that. i think any other team thats not spurs/warriors/houston would sign lebron even if u have to give him all this power over the roster etc.

i don't see Larry Tanenbaum and the MLSE board giving an aging LBJ any power.
if they wouldn't give it to Tim Lewieke who did an incredible job rebuilding the entire corp they won't give it to anyone.

MLSE is pretty much married to Ujiri and Casey. Those guys are basically god.

so you can add TO to that list of teams that won't give LBJ power over roster decisions.

Fred Van Vleet got the most minutes tonight... the most assists.. and was the best player for toronto, again.
sry Kyle.

And I still remember how James and his Maverick guys hounded Riley on ESPN and all tabloids in Miami when Riley won't give in to his demands.

I appreciate players taking control over their financial and career decisions, in contrast to the 70s 80s and 90s era when players were nothing but pure workers for the owners. But there must be a balance to this. Players' interest and well-being do not always align with the teams' and the league's. These guys earn millions (players and owners alike). There's just too much greed and ego getting in the way of good basketball spectatorship for the fans. Oh actually I take that back, maybe the Cavs are good soap opera tv for now.

i think it makes for a great contrast of styles. and it makes for interesting basketball.
you have true teams run by Popovich and you have Frankenstein teams slammed together by player agreements.

The national media is obsessing over the Cavs getting hammered by the Rockets. Giving up 120 to the Rockets ain't that big a deal. Rockets score 120+ a lot.

The problem is they got destroyed by Detroit when the Pistons roster was depleted due to the Griffin trade. Minnesota destroyed them without 2 rotation players and 1 starter. Toronto destroyed them without 2 starters in their lineup. The Spurs smashed the Cavs with half their team hurt. and everyone's favourite defensive juggernaut ,Orlando, just held the Cavs to 31 points in the 2nd half. All this stuff is way more ominous than giving up 120 to the Rockets.

If Philly wins tonight the Cavs are only 3.5 games ahead of the 8th place team.

The Los Angeles Lakers (via Magic Johnson) have been fined $50,000 by NBA for violating the league’s anti-tampering rule regarding the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Johnson's full quote:
"With his ball-handling skills and his passing ability. He plays above the rim I never could do that. But in his understanding of the game, his basketball IQ, his creativity of shots for his teammates. That's where we [have the] same thing. Can bring it down, make a pass, make a play. I'm just happy he's starting in the All-Star game because he deserves that. And he's going to be like an MVP, a champion, this dude he's going to put Milwaukee on the map. And I think he's going to bring them a championship one day."

Per NBA rules, any talk about a player on another team outside of press conferences and interviews before, during, and after the games against the team of the player in question constitutes a fine. Recruiting attempt: $500k (like PG), non-recruiting attempt: $50k (like this one).
