Nice, but why can't if just be set for the whole continent? Uefa could be getting 1 thing right here!

Yeah UEFA are in the process of organizing a similar thing, however due to many more nations involved and what not, will take a lot longer to make happen.

I think their point is to have it end before the season starts, and as different leagues start their seasons at different dates (this year at least La Liga had round 1 one week after the premier league did), that's not plausible. English teams want to avoid having to replace any players after the season has already started.

Maybe because not the entire continent uses the same league schedule? Or do you determine which leagues belong to your continent and which don't?

Well UEFA is Europe only but they cover Russia, Norway etc etc which is halfway through their seasons by time the summer happens! So you will never ever get it fair, maybe having the window shut globally the thursday before a PL season begins is good.
That means that Italy Spain Germany (to an extent) get an extra 7 days training with the current squad before the season starts. Germany is different as their season starts the same week as PL and France but its a cup game vs a pub side so not much different than an extended pre season friendly!

Where did you get this knowledge from?

The last 2 seasons i know of your DFB Cup starts where you play teams from like division 3 which are just awful aka pub teams in my view as they play part time and what not. This is done before the first gameweek of Bundesliga no? This is also the same week premier league and ligue 1 start

You calling German Div3 pub level tells more about you than about the German Div3. (ignoring the fact, that there are actually a handful unseeded Div2 teams)
And no, Div3 doesn't play part time either.

And looking at the results of the past years, and the reactions to those Bundesliga teams who failed to make it past round1, I would say, this is quite a bit more than just a training game.

And well... The transfer deadline concerns all the German Footie divisions. Not only Bundesliga.

DFB is the best domestic cup, it has too many surprises. Every year many too big surprises. Hamburg lost 0:3 at home to Osnabrück (2nd division) few weeks ago. Osnabrück start to score when they were one man down. Leverkusen always have to play extra time vs lower division teams.
Bayern lost at home vs a 5th divison team at dfb cup but they won Bundesliga 1993/1994.

english wiki doesnt tell any surprises. german one is very big.

That is due to these teams are in pre season still? If the FA Cup started before the league you would get similar results no doubt as well.

But the EPL is where money is....that means they are mostly a buying league. To me it makes zero sense (specially in the EPL).

Just look at the Coutinho situation....if they were already closed and the deal went through, then Liverpool would not be able to sign a replacement. Remember they can only restrict internal buying...the selling to foreign teams will always depend on the registration close date therein.

IIRC Spain and Italy start later, Germany starts earlier and France is kind of on par with the EPL. This year due to the WC most leagues started earlier and started closer to each other than usual.

I think they will never be able to force everyone to do the same, therefore, for selling leagues like Portugal, I hope we don't try to look good to the big leagues and adopt this, would be really bad for our clubs.

(and all this is just ignoring that having 3/4 rounds with the ability to make slight corrections to the teams seems good on my eyes).

Some juicy games tomorrow. City Liverpool, Everton Spurs, Leicester Chelsea

Guardiola's side haven't made the most convincing start and I want Liverpool to keep their excitement and momentum a bit longer so I'm going to back them.

Chelsea should have enough to beat Leicester but it's going to be a tough game for them, Leicester won't make it easy.

Spurs need to start winning if they're going to through their hat into the title race which will start to emerge over the next few months.

im going to assume this means english clubs wont be able to sell after the season starts either, therefore forcing other countries to buy quicker if they need.
otherwise the epl is just handicapping themselves for no reason and theyre not that stupid

They can't not sell, you can sell at any point etc. But if your transfer window is shut and Barcelona bid for Coutinho it is way easier to say, No, not going to happen. Rather than this time when was 3 weeks to go in the window.
It just easier for clubs to tell players and agents no, the window is shut for us we are not selling now and we will re address in January / next summer. So i think it will be fine either way.

You can sell, and buy at any point. You just can't register them for the league. Effectively making your purchase worthless (at least for a few months). Transfer windows don't force clubs but to buy/sell, it just gives them a window in which new club players can be registered with the league.

Ah yes that is true of course.
But just using the Coutinho transfer as an example, there is no way Liverpool will sell at all, even if the player asks to leave when they cannot buy and register a player. Thus way easier for clubs to tell player and club offering the money, no.
"I would let you leave Coutinho but i cannot replace you, we will have to wait until January" etc etc

Buyout clauses make that impossible tho.

They are rarer than an Arsenal clean sheet in England a buyout clause, but of course that is a point.
However with this new window im sure they will go completely extinct now in England

I agree with Panda's point about English clubs been in a pretty good position to just say no after our window has shut. I'm not sure where or why the argument that English clubs will have all their best players pinched after the window has shut and not be able to replace them has come from. It's rubbish. Teams aren't going to let key parts of their first team go knowing they can't replace them. If other countries clubs (having already had all summer to get a deal through) come in late offer good money and the player wants to go the English teams are now in a very strong position to say wait until January, we can’t sell now. The deal would have to be ridiculously good for clubs to sell knowing their squad will be really weak in that position.

edit: The only way it could be a problem is if some buisness executive who doesn't give a shit about the club but holds the power to make the difference decides the deal is too good to turn down and sells against the managers will. I guess that's not that unlikely situation these days.

German FA seem "keen" to follow the English FA in stopping transfers before the season has begun!
