Not doing exact math, but if so happens, and belarus keeps the last place in the group, it seems like netherlands beating belarus and then beating sweden would 100% assure them of second place, even if it's just a 1-0 victory both games. If luxembourg keeps the last place in the group then netherlands would prolly have to beat sweden like 4-0 or more. Eh the removal of the games against last placed teams only counts toward the best 2nd placed teams, they still need to be 2nd in their group with all games counted.

ahh yeah that makes sense, stupid me. ;p
Was confusing, cuz when you look at that, France is listed as the second place team in their group. I thought that was related to some games already being discounted but looking at games played in the group, it's clearly not the case. And they never actually discount the games when calculating the individual groups anyway, just for the next stage. I mostly blame being slightly drunk anyway.

Coincidentally with goals being the problem, why are we playing Vincent Janssen -_-
I know right? I can't get over how we went from having so many top level strikers to someone who won't even make the team sheet for the Champions league.
But man as much as I dislike Janssen, our midfield continues to be a mess. Wijnaldum just isn't the guy to dictate the midfield, he needs others to do that for him. Vilhena/Strootman try their hearts out, but just don't have the ability to do it. I dislike how we seem to have given up on Blind in midfield.

germany vs norway is a slaughter. Norwegens feel a bit like spectators. Fun facts: Toni Kroos has a 100% passing accuracy at half time Timo Werner has so far scored 6 goals in his first 8 matches for the national team.

Tournament qualification for germany is like training practice lol

I don't think we are going to qualify for the WC...

Congratulations to Real Madrid, they will win this league for sure. I'm going to wait on judging Barcelona yet. Rebs said Paulinho looks great for the national team and Dembelé is overpriced but really good. Semedo actually looked really good the last match I watched. I think Barca could surprise, though you really should get rid of your board.
Just to add a bit of disclaimer just because he worked really well for Brazil doesnt really mean it will translate well to Barca, Im sorry if I implied that. I feel like unless his distribution and reading of the ball is on point, he will struggle immensely.

I'm not cheering for Belgium, definitely not. I'm going to cheer for Brazil or Argentina.

What I don't understand is Janssen scored 6 goals out of 38 appreances last season, Bas Dost scored 36 out of 41 appearances. Why is Dost benched and Janssen playing? I know Dost hasn't been great in the national team but at some point you have to look at 36 goals and believe in the guy

But the US team currently sitting on a 3rd place with 8 equal points to Honduras 4-th place is also an easy way to qualify through inter-confederation matches Winning next game vs Panama which got 7 points pretty much guarantee a spot in finals
I'm more afraid about Argentina not making it out lol

Bleh, we are just very ordinary. Outside of Mooy we just don't have the talent. Hopefully Japan can do us a solid vs Saudis.

I agree he hasn't been giving a fair chance especially in a game we desperately need goals. He wasn't even substituted in later on. Honestly I don't get how anyone could be happy with Janssen's performance.
Btw Pande can you tell me what the deal was with Janssen and WBA? I really don't understand why he wouldn't accept the transfer.

Well, Spurs didn't really tell him anything that he was going to be allowed to leave until deadline day. Then he was going to be used as a loan swap to Swansea to get in Llorente, but then Swansea managed to get first choice Bony back in from City so that didn't happen. Then West Brom came in for him or he was offered to west brom and he refused to go, so now he stuck 3rd choice striker at Spurs and will hardly play until January, then i assume he will be out and will leave then.

Busy day in world cup qualifying. Matches on all continents :D
(south korea vs australia) vs usa playoffs might be incoming. If it really gets this far, FIFA might lose quite a bit of money from big markets missing out. Or maybe not, fifa.com randomly invented a goal in their liveticker.

I was in poland so I ended up watching poland khazakstan instead of germany -norway. pretty happy about that, from what I'm reading we've literally never been this outplayed for like, 50 years. Was funny, we have a new manager (lars lägerback, guy who is largely responsible for the success of Iceland), and while the difference in quality between our two teams is so significant that no pundits thought we had a shot at actually winning the game, this one pundit specifically wrote 'but we're also not going to lose 0-6' before the game.
Germany is the best team and they hardly ever have an off day, such professionalism.. Really impressive on their behalf, even if we also sucked.
