Feelings regarding the outside money are irrelevant though when arguing about Arsenal. Maybe it was applicable when Kroenke made those comments but nowadays they are getting passed by clubs who spend significantly less than Arsenal. Arsenal fans, management and whoever cannot be complaining about the sugar daddies when they spend nearly 80 million pounds more on salaries than last year's runner up. The difference between Spurs and Arsenal is 4 times bigger than between Arsenal and Chelsea.

The wages is just another argument for Arsenal to not acquire more players.
And the outside money argument is not irrelevant at all when discussing current acquisitions. Obviously Qatar etc is the reason why prices are so insane right now.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean. I agree with you then, for a team with no CL their wages are really big and they can't really go on a wild spending spree.

Dont get me wrong I dont think either that Arsenal are doing great overall. I do not understand at all why they kept Wenger for another season. Was already obvious last season that the morale / commitment of players was low, missing CL did not help ofc, so I think a manager change would have made sense.

UEFA opens a formal investigation into Paris Saint-Germain as part of its ongoing monitoring of clubs under Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Sure,
But we are talking about PSG...

Do they impose transfer bans as punishment? The "strictest" punishment they handed out was making Man City only have an 18 man squad for champions league, not the usual 21/23 (i forget which one!) I also find it hilarious as if you fail in FFP you get fined money xD

Dono, I was just bouncing an idea based on what kind of punishment could sound sinister or potentially harmful but probably will do fuck all...

I don't see how PSG can get punished heavily. They took their time to make sure they wouldn't be out of the FFP. The worst that can happen to them is receiving a fine/transfer ban for a year (well now that they got all the players they wanted, they don't care) AND having UEFA draft new rules to forbid this type of deals. But it can't affect them after the fact.
Unless they did something super shady... But knowing the whole football world was watching, I highly doubt it.
Meanwhile Barça couldn't get rid of Turan, Gomes, Munir, Vermaelen,... 10 midfielders for 3 spots, nice. And they failed at signing every target they had bar Dembélé which cost 3/4 of Neymar x) If Bartomeu doesn't get kicked out this year, I don't know what will.

England with the most unconvincing 0:4 win.

This Summer Barcelona transfers are the worst that I have seen. Changing Neymar for Dembelé + Paulinho from the Chinese League and Semedo. No getting any money for Turán, Vermalen or Gomes, etc. It is a joke, the team needed 3 or 4 players in different positions, we have a very bad bench.
Congratulations to Real Madrid, they will win this league for sure.

Woohoo got my Champions League tickets! City, Napoli and Shachktar here I come! :D

I'm going to wait on judging Barcelona yet. Rebs said Paulinho looks great for the national team and Dembelé is overpriced but really good. Semedo actually looked really good the last match I watched. I think Barca could surprise, though you really should get rid of your board.

Congratulations to Real Madrid, they will win this league for sure. You hopeful about the no confidence petition that started yesterday? I think it'll go through. They just need 15% of the socios to start a new election. Not that much. Problem is, even if you elect a new president, this season is already a mess. You can't fire the coach and start again, it's too late. Also Valverde isn't a bad choice.

Yeah I read that the new election should be easy to force, I mean more if it will be successful to depose and replace. Also yes this season can't be influenced by a new president, but at least to me the long term future seems like a much bigger issue. They appear to have no plans for life without Messi and if he doesn't sign a new contract, this life will come very quickly.

As Klinsmann was my childhood football hero, I can help but feel a bit of schadenfreude at the US still struggling in world cup qualifying. But I never thought that the possibility of elimination would look as real as it does now.

Didn't help for Barca though that they had money issues as it was. They also then didnt shift Neymar until late and the market just went stupid. They spent so much money on Dembele who is not even imo that much better than what they already have in that position. Barca fans now need to hope there is a bunch of talent in La Masia to carry them through this season
|
They can't play masia player with 10 guys in the midfield that's the issue :D Starting 11 is actually good, but then managing 20+ players when most of them are all the same position is shit.
