Barkley transfer by the way is the craziest thing to ever happen transfer wise in England, it is stupidly weird.
We bid £35million for Barkley, Everton accept We talk to Barkley, he agree's to join us We discuss contract length, pay and all that, he accepts He travels to London, does his medical Midway through his medical, he has a "change of heart" decides he doesn't want to join us RIGHT NOW Leaves, goes back to Everton and will discuss his future in January ? lol

I can only imagine how messed up that is for people trying to run the last minute transfers. They probably could've been doing something more productive with the time and money that was tied to the transfer.

Pretty sure they'll make Sanchez a new contract with a very cheap clause (like 20-25) so both the team and the player get something out of this

I think January he might leave i don't know, it's a weird one to announce him signing a new contract now for 12 months for him to go next summer because buyout clause seems silly. He either leaves for free next summer or Arsenal will take 20-30million for him in January if Chelsea/City come in for him in January.
I hope he goes for free, so we can just offer him £200,000 a week to stay in London and maybe he will come.

It probably went like this: "What do you mean, Eva Carneiro is not employed by Chelsea anymore? Fuck this medical then, I am out!"

He could walk away next year and get a signing bonus. The only good thing for him would be if he gets injured and no one wants him next year.

But then why the hell didn't Arsenal just sell him now? Clearly they need him desperately, so benching him isn't an option, meaning he can just laugh off an empty threat like that.
So either Arsenal somehow pull out a league win (or maybe an EL win would be enough) to entice him to stay longer, or they enjoy his 1 year of football and then let him go for free (or *maybe* a mid-season transfer is an option, when Arsenal have more time to prepare buying a replacement).

Old article but bears repeating...
Stan Kroenke has warned Arsenal fans that he doubts they will be able to compete with rival clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City in terms of expenditure, claiming: “If you want to win Championships then you would never get involved.”
The American majority shareholder, who also owns NFL franchise the Los Angeles Rams and the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, has been at the Arsenal helm since 2011, where he took his stake in the club to 66.64 per cent.
Kroenke has earned opprobrium from Arsenal fans for the way in which the club has been run. The Gunners have cash of nearly £160million which could be available to invest in players, however last summer passed with Arsene Wenger spending only £10m on Chelsea’s Petr Cech.
In the same window Manchester City spent nearly £150m on the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi, whilst Chelsea invested £62m in eight players.
These two sides have won six Premier League titles since Arsenal last led the top flight in 2004 but Kroenke warned he would not support mass spending to get his side back up the table.
Speaking at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Boston he said: “For me, being an individual owner, I have to have some sort of reality involved.
“If you want to win championships then you would never get involved. I think the best owners in sports are the guys that sort of watch both sides a bit. If you don't have a good business then you can't really afford to go out and get the best players unless you just want to rely on other sources of income.
“Over there [in the Premier League] it was sort of like 'well, we've got guys from the Middle East, the oil price is over $100, they can spend anything they want'.
“But the problem I saw with all of that; those people can lose interest. It doesn't mean that they will, but I sort of threw that out there: 'What happens when the Middle Eastern family, this thing's costing a lot of money and they decide to go home?' I said what really happens in those situations is the fans get hurt because the players get picked up and paid if they're good, the front office gets other jobs.”
Kroenke's comments had come before Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup by London rivals Watford at home on Sunday, with Quique Sanchez FLores' Hornets winning 2-1 at the Emirates.
The Arsenal owner is currently in the process of moving his Rams franchise from St Louis to Los Angeles, where they last played in 1994 before defecting to Missouri.
By contrast Kroenke noted that fans in the Premier League were willing to travel similar, if not greater distances to watch their team. The 68-year-old noted that such remarkable displays of customer loyalty ensured that plenty of revenue could be generated, with Arsenal already charging the most in Europe for their premium season tickets.

Wow Arsenal fans going to go into orbit after hearing that haha. What an idiot Kroenke is!

Kroenke isn't an idiot he just assumes the Arsenal fans are and honestly many Arsenal fans have been idiots. Anyway the problem for me with Arsenal are too numerous to sum at this point. They don't spend much money, what they spend hasn't always been wisely, their wage structure is abysmal, tactically naive, list goes on and on.

If you want to win championships you wouldn't get involved is a ludicrous statement. Chelsea laid down the foundations splashing the absurd cash they did no question, but since what 2010? We have hardly been much bigger net spend than Arsenal maybe even less and Arsenal had the roster in place before we had to lavish out millions to get said foundations in. They had the amazing academy, they had a great, solid squad from the early to mid 00s. Yet they sat and were naive about it not bringing in players and for about 5 years Wenger wouldn't spend more than £20million on a player. Then all of a sudden boom Ozil came in, then Sanchez and now Lacazette. No wonder Kroenke gave Wenger a contract they literally just want to run that club at a profit, charging the maximum of any club for a ticket to watch it all unravel. When he says shit like that you would expect there be no one else inside the club who doesn't think the way he does, but the Russian Usimonov and some others disagree but can't get more stakes in the club to take him off a majority thus they are sat with that attitude for a club enriched in history and that arguable gave us the best side England had seen (until Mourinho gave us Chelsea :D :D :D) Just beyond me how he thinks that attitude to take that they cannot compete with Man City and Chelsea because of rich owners when Leicester and Yanited have won the title as well (Yes Yanited are rich but that has come from being a successful club like Arsenal for decades).

Oh so it is XD but still is relevant minus the posting it after the transfer window line which ill edit out. It's crazy to go into a club with that mentality, he literally just wants to make money on football clubs in which you cant in the premier league
|
Obviously he just wants to cash in as much as possible, he doesn't care and in America he does the same with all his clubs.
|
Some arsenal fan even mentioned how he uses arsenal to get loans for his other projects which wouldn't surprise me at all

Yeah and that is the annoying part, i could understand if he had no one challenging him or offering him good money for shares and what not, but he does, yet he still sits there at the helm, doing what he pleases xD
It was the same at Liverpool too until this transfer window as well, FSG were spending way more money getting Boston Red Sox back in the big time when they won the MLB major series in 2015? was it than they let Liverpool had transfer kitty wise, but now they seem to have invested alot more. Even though they have like £100 million sale in Coutinho at any time

I am completely the opposite, I dislike all the clubs that spend like crazy with the help of outside money. The player values are way inflated atm because of it which is why buying now makes little sense from a business perspective. It is a seller's market. Arsenal has not made many acquisitions but Kolasinac and Lacazette ones were pretty good. Also Arsenal is at a huge disadvantage atm because they are not in CL which is why they missed out on Lemar. The have to offer even more than other top clubs atm because of missing CL.
|
I think the main thing holding back arsenal is the lack of a good CDM. It somewhat allows their attackers to do their thing, while providing cover to their weak defence. But arsene hopes to play like Barcelona but he doesn't have the same quality attackers and midfielders who can retain/pass the ball.
