How is Mike Dean still allowed to officiate games at all, is there a union or something?

What if a Ref decides just to ignore VAR requests and so on?

Also interestingly they've scored something like 11 goals in the last 5 games. That's one third of their whole season total.

I think this could open up a discussion about allowing goals even if they technically "didn't happen". For example, in hockey if a player has the puck and is moving toward an empty net with no one to stop him but is brought down from behind by a defending player, he is automatically awarded the goal even if he didn't even take a shot.

IMO they should have been less ambitious to start. Step 1 is simply having video referees only do the "objective" stuff like out of bounds and goals. Once people were comfortable with that they could have added penalty decisions and card review, particularly in the case were a card is issued to the defender, while the play in reality was an unsporting flop (essentially swapping the cards from one player to another).

Nothing else is really broken enough to justify it.

I just realized, but with Atleti losing today. Barca could win the title if they win the next game and then beat Madrid at home. Lel.
