Portugal is looking like just a bunch of players roaming the field. I wonder how Cristiano Ronaldo feels to not have a single team mate up to his level to make things actually happen... Imho, and based on actual form Portugal should field the following team: Rui patrício Nelson Semedo - Ruben dias - pepe - Raphael Guerreiro William Carvalho Bruno Fernandes - Moutinho Bernardo Silva - Ronaldo - Gonçalo Guedes From those 11 only 2 are playing today. Our starting eleven today is really bad and I hope this is a wake up call for Fernando Santos

The back 4 only Guerreiro for me is any use, pepe to old and slow, Ruben Dias untested, Semedo just doesn't play. Carvalho is just mid tier, Moutinho is old now and just not what he was. Fernandes shouldn't play, you should also play the god that is Andre Gomes. Bernado and Silva can do the job of a prime Moutinho with more legs too. Ronaldo and then no idea if you have any other good attackers ![]()

If we get to quarters it'll be really good. But Ruben Dias is superb! And Andre Silva (i guess thats who you are referring as Silva) is shit! Gonçalo Guedes should play up front with Ronaldo and Bernardo.

Haha oh so that team seems better ![]() On March 27 2018 05:01 bObaZ wrote: I'm not saying that we are contenders. If we get to quarters it'll be really good. But Ruben Dias is superb! Oh no was me being wrong i meant Bernado Silva + Gomes with Carvalho sweeping up behind seems a strong midfield for me. Then Ronaldo plus 2 wingers or something if you have them and that sounds ok. I also think Silva (the old u21 captain) is bad

Also, La Liga has had the same top 3 teams for the last 5 seasons and out of those 5 seasons and only one - the Atletico's championship season - hasn't had Barca and RM as top two. I don't think PL is totally even or anything, but it's still far more even than La Liga has been at any point in the recent history. The actors may change but if we are considering recent history the PL has rarely ever had a realistic or practical race that has had more than 2 or maybeee 3 teams in it. The third one is usually an outsider/dark horse. You can look at that year by year and find that in most instances there has only ever 2 maybe 3 clubs past January competing for a title. Going back to the previous century even. But yes in that period the PL is more even in point differentials within the top half but againhas their been a realistic chance of more than a 2-3 teams actually being legit contenders at the business end ? I cant recall. Pre season odds dont mean much to me personally. They are speculative and go off reputation and squads. Lets be honest based on the last 15 years, is there any good reason to think Arsenal is more likely to win La Liga than Atletico ?

Sure, no disagreement there, but the comment I was addressing wasnt about whats more interesting.. Although I notice now that it is the start of the conversation.

Just saying this because the arguments here seem to go too much in the direction of EPL > la Liga just based on equality. Lets not pretend la Liga is less even because of weaker teams, when it it is mostly due the strength of barca and Real. I dont want a league to be called worse because they have great teams. That said I also think EPl is more entertaining to watch. But they also get more attention because of media coverage, english language etc.

I meant to say likelier to win EPL than Atletico is to win la Liga. + Show Spoiler + (no they arent) And even if I did mean to say La Liga, that was still a slight at Arsenal not at La Liga. How are Barca and Real Madrid a good reason that Arsenal would win La liga? So I am not sure if you followed the string, because I am arguing against the grain of the EPLness if thats your gripe.

And Arsenal is more likely to win EPL than Atletico is to win la Liga due to Barca and Real being good and lowering Atletico's chances. I was explaining the odds.
