That is the first time i have ever watched Chelsea in 18 years probably more that i have not enjoyed it or been able to defend it. It was awful and it is due to one man and that is Conte. What a sad sad way his tenure is going to end.
The thing that annoys me the most is he moaned we don't have a striker as he didn't trust/like Batman, that is fine, he got given one and puts then BOTH on the bench and doesn't play them lol. Pedro has been awful the whole season but he played well vs Barca ok, he played bad this game too but he didn't take him off until after Willian who is in "form" to a certain extent.
Oh well, i would not be surprised if he finally goes now because all he has done since 2018 is moan moan moan at board and our results are fkn shite.

You're months late pande. I told you so lol. You had too much faith in him. Fundamentally what conte had been doing for Chelsea was just not right despite some success...

We played fantastic vs Barca though, we play great one game then shockingly bad/average the next 5 it seems.
I mean vs Yanited we were great even with Morata having a bad game, he doesn't take Morata off, said something bad at half time because we were shit second half and then somehow lost the game.
I always said and me and my dad were discussing it whilst game was on, back when we played "park the bus" we always had a Drogba or Costa to go long too which is fine because it wasn't every game. So when Conte does it and there is no out ball to a striker it is so stupid.
Oh well, Chelsea going to go through some big changes as i don't see how Eddie and Tibo stay in the summer if we are not in the champions league lol.

I thought the defence was alright, just one marking mistake from Alonso which can happen as he's so offensive minded.
Problem is the attack. Hazard and Willian just don't work, they might make a nice run dribbling past anyone in the league but then they just hit a brick wall, no one to pass to, cross to, do 1-2 or anything. Need Morata back in form asap. Formation also helps, Drinkwater just doesn't fit anywhere right now, he's a bad Kante in defense and bad Cesc in offense.

Chelsea never has a proper way of attacking since the old guard. Ever since drogba/lampard left, we became too reliant on hazard. No one else other than the odd cesc through ball could unlock defences. That's why I always felt the team to be unbalanced. I think what we badly need is a creative central player to control the midfield. Sadly we had one in de bruyne but Jose insisted everyone needs to defend....
I think hazard may stay if we hire a more adventurous manager. He's probably sick of us not playing football. We probably will not miss courtois as much though.

Well during Mata Oscar Hazard era that was pretty sick, but i know what you mean, we have attacked nicely last season and some odd times this season, but it all comes down to Hazard needs to be LW or off the striker. Not THE striker as that is when he is shit, i think every single Chelsea fan can see and knows this. That is why after the Barca game when it worked everyone was shocked haha.
Anyway, i just hope he changes it but Conte is really shooting himself in the foot with his niavity xd

That wasnt Hazard doing anything though. That was mostly Willian having a good day and launching guided missiles the few times there was some space on offer.
Thats not a reliable method of scoring at the end of the day and today proved that,.

Yea we should believe him. Then this is what's gonna happen. They'll do well preseason, look very optimistic and claim they're potential challengers, be 10 points behind the league leaders by November, comment that top 4 is a realistic goal and progress considering they finish 6th last season, miss out on top 5 yet again, Wenger announcing that he is still the right man....
2 seasons of 6th place is unacceptable. Back then he at least guaranteed champions league football. It's clear that arsenal is in decline and its time for the club to balls up and sack him.

That wasn't the whole game though, we were getting through Barca alot, had more attacking shots and options than them and were keeping the ball. We didn't need an out ball vs Barca in the end and looked great to everyone surprise. To say we only had a couple of long shots in that game is wayyyy wrong to what we happened

I watched second half of that game and it was entertaining as Atletico really went for it but couldn't find the final ball. Barca were just failing to take chances they got in the second half too, was fun game. Didn't see first half though.

We were watching different games then I suppose. I dont recall many great opportunities beyond what Wilian was doing. Hazard certainly wasnt a part of any of it, if there were.
Granted Barca probably had less clear chances than just the ones Wilian fired off. Then again neither really did City but the difference here was they felt 0 pressure because theyre press and ball recovery was superior to Barca's and strangely Chelsea never switched into high press against City which is probably the fatigue and fixtures catching up (so maybe not that strange). Its hard to ball chase game after game for such an extended run/

But we had no excuse for fatigue, we had 7 clear days rest vs Man City who played Cup Final > Arsenal repeat game before we rocked up at the Etihad.
Vs Barca we could keep the ball with Barca press and pressured more i agree there but vs City we just bent over and presented it felt like!
When the team came out for Barca game i felt the same thing might happen to what happened vs City where we would not be able to get out because we cannot play our way through a high pressing team with the style and players we have. However we managed it there because we were alot braver on the ball for a start and two Pedro actually was a player! However i still feel the out ball to a striker is the way you beat these teams anyway, especially Barca/Man City where the likes of Morata isn't going to get bullied as much by the two centre halves.
But anyway, we shall see what happens in the future, yesterday was an embarrassment for Chelsea Football Club but all would be forgotten if we were to somehow get top 4 still.

That is true I didnt realise they had such a long break, in my head there were just alot of intense fixtures. And its also true that individually some people (Pedro, Wilian, Fabregas) were alot better against Barca then yesterday.
And yes, there is no logic to not playing a striker to hold up the ball and then have Hazard and Wilian play off him. Hazard especially playing out of position gets marked out of games, and the fact that he is having to make plays far to deep to effect anything is a tragedy. I like to give managers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to tactics but Conte is making it really hard to defend.
I mean this was a common theme in the second half. One would think that after going a goal down finaly City would feel some pressure higher up but with being a goal up they felt no need to push the pace either so you can hardly blame them.
And I just realised that this is what Chelsea looks like without Kante :p
