this is why i posted Meltzer's revenue and profit #s of the UFC in 2014 and 2015.
Thanks for bringing logic and reason to the argument.
With those numbers, around 4 billion definitely looks reasonable. With an industry like this, where theres plenty of variance, you'd like to break even in 20-30 years in terms of profit. Accounting for everything, and the growth the sport has seen in the last several years, that sounds reasonable on paper.
I dunno though, if I was an investor, I don't think I'd pay more than 2-2.5b, but that's because I think we're in the golden days of mma, and it'll be slightly downhill from here. Over regulation will be responsible for the decline imo.
Also damn, those are some massive interest payments of what? The $325mil loan they took in 07? They were probably very risky to invest in, and thus got shafted hard.

Meltzer covers this stuff in great depth and detail. It bores me to death so I'm unable to even say if it seems reasonable or not. Due to Meltzer's long standing reputation I'd say the #s are probably right.
MMA Beat covers a new book about Ali, the birth of MMA, the roots of the PPV revenue model, and combat sports relationship to sports entertainment.
" Ali vs. Inoki: The Forgotten Fight That Inspired Mixed Martial Arts and Launched Sports Entertainment "
it seems like almost every 45+ year old reporter that covers MMA was inspired by seeing Ali in action. They never revealed whether or not the Ali v. Inoki match was a work or a shoot.

What a bad fight and one I was really looking forward too and was sure would deliver.
Eh, I dunno, I thought he won round 1,2,5 fairly decisively, and round 3 I'd put at 65/35 for Stephens, and round 4 was more or less even, I'd probably give it to Rory, but I think that's a bit of my bias.
I didn't even know an event was going on, I just saw the UFC thread on top here, so I'm like oh, quickly turned it on.

it seemed horrible because rory seemed to have nothing for wb rory had to resort to doing gimmicky rolls
i agree with the 50-45 judges. Rory got flat out beat and hardly touched Wonderboy the first 3 rounds. Once the Red, Water, King, Boy of Ares attacked Thompson he got his nose broken. Boring fight but the right guy got the unanimous decision.
The most interesting thing about Rory Macdonald's career at this point is what ominous sounding nickname he is going to give himself.
Warning: brutally explicit content. gruesome. This is one of the most skillful examples of defending on full guard off of one's back. he can't pass the guard. just brutal.
UFC Sold for 4.2 Billion. Botter is pretty reliable. Look for Meltzer to take a microscope to the transaction in his next Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

"We're always working on deals and our expansion globally. I've been saying since this thing came out, no, we're not for sale, but let me tell you what. If somebody shows up with $4 billion, we can talk. We can definitely talk." -Dana White
i taught my parrot to say " the earth is flat ". i'm not sure who is a more reliable source. my parrot or Dana White. They both mindlessly repeat what they are told to say.
they have to deny until the UFC's HR department formulates an internal communications strategy regarding the sale. At that point the UFC will go public.
that said, Botter is pretty reliable but not 100%. Most people trust Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter a lot more with this financial stuff than any other MMA journalist.
