Well according to NBC: Jara banned from Copa America

This confirmed anywhere yet? I can only find this source and it seems awfully fast after the end of the match. Would be a great thing though.

This sort of thing actually happens in almost all contact sports at many levels. I wonder why this isn't considered sexual assault and why the perpetrators don't get a jail sentence.

Yeah, I would have been ok with Cavani punching him in the face with his fist and then kicking him while he's on the ground. You just don't do that, and the it's the aggressor who should pay for this stuff, not the reacting player. I wouldn't mind if Chile got disqualified over this, although that's never going to happen.

Apparently, Jara also was saying stuff to Cavani about his dad. If you haven't heard, Cavani's dad killed a 19 year old while DUI. This happened a couple of days ago.

So sad for Cavani, got wound up and sent off in the most bizarre of circumstances, another reason why video technology would have been useful. You see he gets wound up and at least minimum they both get sent off and not just Cavani for his 2nd yellow.
