The format for this event was last man standing rep for rep battle with 20 sec time limit. Weight in the trunk made it roughly 750 at the handles. Extremely easy lift but I'm mostly power and can't go the distance with endurance. Plus at rep 9 (7:30) strap rips apart forcing me to use figure 8 straps and I never used those before so it kinda threw me off. And the losers got pie in the face. + Show Spoiler + ![]()

Yesterday my Crossfit Box did an internal competition, where I hit a 17.5kg total PR, best Oly lifting of my life by a mile.

What price range and what use is he looking at? My personal preference is the DHS bar at ~540 for olympic weightlifting. Quality is amazing for the price and it's my favorite bar. There's cheaper options though, especially if not being used for snatch and clean&jerk. Lifts look pretty solid gotunk.

The bigger controversy is that going into the first event on sunday (midline madness), he was down 4 points to smith. He scored 18 points more than smith in that event, and came out of it 8 points down. Apparently it took the judges a day and a half to assess penalties on a previous event, so they completely changed the points totals in the middle of the final day without notifying the athletes or their coaches.

It'll be the bar i buy once my dead lift merits the purchase ![]() You could also trawl CL for vintage York's. They aren't too hard to refurbish even.

If you are not, something like the bar above will do the trick. If you are, get an OLYMPIC BAR, which are made of "spring steel" and have "whip". They make a massive difference in how they feel, and more important, your injury risk short and long term.

@jupiter had he known going into midline madness what the actual point total was, he probably would have come out another spot ahead. I agree he dropped the ball on the rope climbs, but had he been 8 points ahead rather than 2, his HSPUs would have looked completely different rest wise, and he might have caught up on the rower/bike. I'm not saying Ben didn't have a fantastic games, but it sucks for both of them - Fraser because he comes in second, but Smith because people will say "oh, he won but he got lucky with the judging" when he may very well have won anyway. The problem is that they assessed some penalties immediately during/after the event. Then 24 hours later, REMOVED smith's 1 second penalty and ADDED a 2 second penalty to fraser, effectively dropping him 26 points, but didn't update the leader board until an additional event (four total events after the sprint had occured) later, right before the final event series. But whatever - crossfit games are horribly run. This is new and interesting information.
