which isn't all on Love. That team was playing some terrible players too many minutes.

Actually, record in close games is a luck issue unless you have a really, really, really long track record of it. All the advanced metrics bear this out. Clutch is pretty much a Skip Bayless thing.

Larry Coon discussing picks Miami traded to Cleveland to get Lebron:
What picks do the Cavs have left from Miami from the S&T deal for Lebron? How protected are they? “Miami’s 1st round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 1-10 in 2015 or 1-10 in 2016 or unprotected in 2017 [Cleveland-Miami, 7/9/2010]”
So yeah — not only did they trade Bron to Miami for (among other things) that pick, but now they got Bron back, and Miami still owes them that pick. Plus Miami will be worse now, so that pick will be better.

the problem with big datasets is that you often obscure the subset of real positives when you are not identifying the subset correctly. you see this with baseball analytics a lot. improved data quality has informed us that some pitchers do control their batted ball profile, but most can't.

The bigger problem is offense. Love still makes his shots in crunch time. Everybody else regresses pretty badly.
The problem with defense in crunch time is partially scheme related. They gamble too much and end up in foul trouble.

well that article does say their defense at end of games is also a problem.
The Wolves are a sound defensive team overall, but they’ve been bad on that end in crunch time, and one trend has surfaced across all three seasons: A team that rarely fouls in the first 45 minutes can’t stop fouling at the end of games. Only Denver has allowed more free throws per field goal attempt in the last three minutes of close games this season, per NBA.com, a carryover from the two prior seasons. Overall, the Wolves have allowed 116.1 points per 100 possessions in crunch time, the third-worst mark in the league, and one that would rank miles below the NBA’s leakiest overall defense.

GSW management is so fucking dumb

Irving with Lebron, hmmmm...
edit: Maybe Deng stays in Cleveland?

If Lebron going to Miami is The Decision, is going back to Cleveland The Revision?
