Asik is a really good center, they aren't taking him as a favor to the Rockets, he will be a quality piece they will look to resign long term. Lin on the other hand will take attaching assets to get his contract to the Lakers. Lin is from Cali, still has marketing pull, is unlikely to ever reach "linsanity" level, but he could put up better numbers if he is more of the focus of the offense.
