do they explain why so many points in the program part?
If yes I'd love to hear the reason. Costner and Yuna's program were way better but the Russian got the same points which is a joke.
Technically the Russian was the best, yes. But program? hell no

Between it's very questionable consideration as a "sport" and its undeniable corruption and subjectivity, I can't stop myself from laughing at all of this.
But it seems to be very popular. I mean even the gamer kids get all emotional and shit when watching ladies dance on ice.

nice to see the tie breaking goal was an even strength goal the action is mega intense ... i don't see how this is "boring"

technically, the russian girl was really impressive. but yuna's performance was a true piece of art. actually, I was really touched...every little move was fitting perfectly to the music. just amazing. on german tv katarina witt said something like "figure skating is not only about the pure technical difficulty, it also has to be about artistic expression." and I totally agree with that. kim yuna almost brought me to tears. and I'm a manly man with a beard. :D

Its been a subjective thing for years already, everyone who follows Olympics at least since Nagano knows how questionable the medal distribution is. This by NO MEANS neglects the fact that these skaters are amazingly good and talented.
Of course they're talented, but I just can't take this seriously when the commentators try to pass of the "sport" aspect of it. It's ballroom on ice. It's an art. It's not a sport. And for God's sake it's so subjective that it's hard to handle.
It also seems incredibly stale, monotonous, and over-regulated, much like gymnastics. Every Winter Olympics I get the impression that the rules/scoring/choreography requirements limits the ability for artistic expression/interpretation.

Dancing is not a sport for you?
How do you define sports then?

They spend so many chances just tossing the puck at the net as if they just desperately hope the goalies fuck it up.
Oh yeah and also the turnovers for like no reason whatsoever.

I have extensive experience with both ballroom and swing dancing, to the point where I was a professional swing dancer for a time. No, it is not a sport, it's an art, and this argument of "art is not sport?" is old, tiresome, and really doesn't need to be re-hashed. Just Google the common points if you've never had it.

Pffft, we just drink. Expect no tears.

figure skating may be retarded because of its subjective judging for medals, but it is most certainly requires shitloads of athleticism and that makes it a sport
