Up to this point in the tourney Canada has played the best out of all the teams. They absolutely man-handled the Finns and the Americans. I'm not sure how this World Cup they keep talking about is going to work, but I'd prefer to see a longer tournament annually with the best of the best playing. Rather then the Olympic format, although the hype surrounding the Olympics is always pretty epic. Will be interesting to see what happens if this truly is the last Olympics that the NHL will participate in.
1 key element of previous "World Cups" and "Canada Cups" was a BO3 Finals. Which of course is not as good as a BO7, but its better than nuttin'. And produced some high drama in 1987 and 1996 with the eventual #2 finisher winning game 1 of the BO3.
That disappeared in the 2004 "World Cup" with a BO1 format in the final 8, final 4, and finals

That game was pathetic by USA. Well, after this game, maybe Jonathan Quick and his fans now understands what Ryan Miller has to deal with when he's in goal for the Sabres.

Isn't the plan to re-format it though? So it doesn't overlap the NHL season/play-offs. So the best players from every nation can compete in an annual tournament that means something. Still might be BO1 in the end though.
I'm not sure on the details only heard snippets of it mentioned on the radio.

The American choke against the Finns make the Russian choke against the Finns look like the Canadian win against the Latvians. What the hell was that. Also, someone should put an alert out on Patrick Kane, I cant imagine the insaaaaaaaaaane bender that kid is going to go on...and its Russia, they wont even notice it until the 36th hour thta something is amiss and by that time who knows, Kane will already have stolen Putin's snow leopard and tried to fuck every female in the Northern Caucases..

But then NHL owners wont get nearly as much dirty money as they can so it will never happen.

So let's look at some interesting stuff here: Sweden beat Finland in the semis, and Canada had a quite close win over USA. Finland then goes on to dominate USA in the bronze game. Sweden should be the favourites tomorrow! But Canada also beat Finland. And both Canada and Sweden beat finland by 1 goal. O.o I¨m expecting a quite even match tomorrow... Also, don¨t forget Rask wasn¨t playing vs SWE.. I just hope we see some GOALS I want to see a 5-4 game tomorrow, either way. Canada needs to finish tomorrow, too many shots not enough goals! Canada has hit hot goalies. 199 shots, 14 goals. 7% shooting is bad lol
Kane has been terrible in the shootout this year, going 1 for 11.

Makes some sense; they end on a win whereas if you get silver you end on a loss.

Or even if it's not head-to-head matches, the Bronze medallist "made it to the podium" whereas the Silver medallist was "so close to the Gold".
