Cavs really want to make the Playoffs. Reading Deng turned down a 3/30 extension from Bulls also.

EDIT: Cavs send Blazers 2015 & 2016 2nd rounder, Sacramento 1st rounder, and right to swap 2015 1st rounder but lottery protected. from reddit so dunno how credible this is. Sac pick is supposedly hella protected and we may never get it but I'll take Bynum's contract, 2 2nd rounders, a swap, and a first rounder for an expiring Deng.

If Cavs resign Deng and make a run at Gasol in the offseason, they could have a team of Varejao, Gasol, Deng, Waiters, and Irving. Not bad in the East. Rumors have it Gasol might want to go MEM with this brother, though this would certainly make things hard.

They basically traded nothing. The SAC pick will become a 2nd rounder and the other 2nd round picks they sent belong to POR, who project to have pretty good records. The swap of picks is nothing really as it is top14 protected. If Cavs resign Deng and make a run at Gasol in the offseason, they could have a team of Varejao, Gasol, Deng, Waiters, and Irving. People making out like Cle were robbed but I think it's a good trade for both. Cavs traded a $6mill expiring contract (that they were going to waive anyway) for Deng (even if it is just rental) and a mid-teens lotto pick (at best for Chi). I don't think Cleveland lost out on too much. They'll regret it if they overpay Deng though. I wouldn't be giving him any more than what Iggy signed for (4/48).

So the Bulls' salary is at $60mill now, yeah? Do you amnesty Boozer now also to really get the tank firing?

Giving up the picks for Deng rental would suck but it'd worse to give him a dumb contract. I'm hoping they canvassed this before making the trade though and have a deal with Deng ready to go. It is Dan Gilbert though...

I'd ideally want him on a contender whose biggest problem is defense- I think Clips first, maybe the Warriors. Agree the trade works for both teams, although tbh I was initially so excited cause i didn't think we'd be able to get anything for him. Rumor is Deng turned down 3/30 from the Bulls, so we definitely should have traded him. He might be worth it but it's iffy, especially since Rose is out and we don't know how good he'll be and we could have Butler slide to the 3. Dunno if Deng turned it down because he thought he was worth more or he was fed up with the organization though. The other reason I like it is because we might end up tanking enough for a lottery pick, even if it isn't a high one. We definitely are too good for a full rebuild but I'd rather get a higher pick this year with Rose out than get nothing.
