Regarding the argument about his games versus Barca: Those games are made for central defenders, they almost never leave their comfort zone.

The constant runs from midfield are actually quite hard to defend. Central defenders usually have a man to defend, with Barça they don't know who they have to pick up. Zone defending is harder. I think this is mainly because Barca play a style that is less common because it's so technically hard to do. Players aren't as used to coming up against it and they aren't selected on their ability to defend and perform it. If everyone played like Barca, then teams who play long and physical would be the hard ones to defend. Kind of a swings and roundabouts thing. And Bayern last year showed us how to absolutely decimate a team like that, just play the defence game with discipline and then break on the counter with pace and control and you make Barca pay for their heavy bias towards attack.

I wished Barça would have invested on him instead of Neymar (Rosell paid like 30% or more of the transfer the year before Neymar came) in 2012 before he joined Paris Him + Mascherano would have been amazing x) Perfect mix! They bet on Puyol's recovery and they lost big. If they had a defender like Silva as CB, I would be a lot more confident in their chances in the CL :O

I don't think we should put too much emphasis on those matches tbh. Yes Bayern won quite convincingly, but Barça was not doing well (consistently dependent on Messi), Messi was injured and in the 4-0 trashing they weren't as dominated as the scoreline would indicate. I think 2 of the 4 goals could be contested in that match and Barça was pretty unlucky in some spots. If they play again this year, I'd say Bayern is a favorite but not a 7-0 favorite at all. I still count Barça as one of the favorites to win the CL this year.

On the other hand, he didn't touch the ball and keeper saw the direction of ball movement clearly. Anyway Atalanta deserved to concede in this situation because of what their defender did. Play till the fucking whistle insteadd of raising your hand and moaning to the ref.

It makes barça less dependant on Messi and he's so young he can play for the team for years to come.

Something that always gets overlooked in this 1st match, is the 2 ez chances facing neyer that barca had, which for some reason both ended up on bartra who proceeded to send the ball towards the corner flag, lol. Barca wasn't good last season but many things went wrong in this specific game.

Not that it in any way indicates that barcelona is "figured out", but what I got from last year was that bayern was better at everything. And then tactics don't really matter all that much. And while I think the timing of last year's match was prolly the worst possible for barcelona as they were totally dependant on messi yet couldn't depend on him for those matches, I haven't seen anything to indicate that the pendulum has swung back in their favor. Bayern if anything look even better than last year, and barcelona look about the same cept neymar makes them miss messi slightly less if he's not fit.. Well I didn't say ignore, I meant to say that the importance of those results don't really reflect a decent prediction on what would happen if they meet again in say.. 2-3 months. I do also think Bayern is still the favorite to win the CL, just there's a couple more teams that could win it and Barça is one of them.

hoping the proper city shows up tho, not that I really care which team wins, but I'd love for city's peak form to be properly tested.

The thing with the 7-0 is that it wasn´t random. 1 or 2 goals too high maybe but it was a familiar game. Look who beated Barca in CL in a 2 game leg the past years, it was Chelsea, Bayern and Inter, all these teams basically with the same methode by making the field small, be physical and disciplined in defending. If you can do this 3 things and still be able to apply pressure and be dangerous you have a pretty good chance of beating barca. Thats why i think ManCity can be very dangerous because they have a team that is very similar to the other three. Also Barca is still too one dimensional with his roster.
