For Defenders ;_; Midfielders Forwards are different. Goalkeepers are still judged as how many clean sheets they get and how many world class saves they make to, well this keeper is good with the ball at his feet and can pass it to the playmaker or the CB really well. No one cares, thats just a plus. Petr Cech one of the worlds best goalkeepers (imo the best due to consistancy) doesn't have very good ball skills at all and his kicking and his throwing are pretty mediocre. Especially compared to a neuer/valdes but would i say those two are better than him overall? Nope not in my book. Courtios isn't nothing special with his distribution either, but again on paper the most talented goalkeeper in world football for his age.
For me Defenders are defenders first attacking wingbacks/ball players second. If you can mix both like a Kompany who is pretty nifty with his feet or Hummels esc then your laughing. But to start the basis with that for a defender is silly >.<

I always pick on Cesc but I still believe he's better than Ozil... He might be less 'talented' but Ozil doesn't have the guts to succeed in a big team. Or at least, not yet. In Madrid he always pissed his pants in big games and the same will happen with Arsenal. Also, passing is nice but if you don't make the effort defensively these days, you're not a good midfielder. Ozil is more like a traditional 10, something that doesn't really exist anymore... So he doesn't fit so good :o
Yeah which is very true, but for the Barca style is pretty much keep possession is how we defend xD So more passer the better. But of course a true midfielder Cesc is probably better stat wise than Ozil.
I noticed vs Aston Villa Ozil looked pretty pissed the whole game and whens last time Ozil played well btw? I don't follow Arsenal extensively but i haven't heard his name mentioned much? Vs Chelsea when we played them in December he was not mentioned.

As all defenders, their first job IS TO DEFEND. Ramos Alaba Silva are not the best defenders. Reus Bale are interesting picks but still good ones, Reus might be a bit early for him though. Ozil is someone who i thought should of been in a team of the year. Ronaldo Ibra and Ribery also a fine front 3.
Its as wrong as the "Neuer is not the best because goalkeepers should only catch the ball and everything else isn´t important" discussion that popped up recently.
Football at the highest level doesn´t work like that you need to have 11 defenders and 11 attacker or a top tier team will rip you appart.
English mindset vs continental mindset. Reminds me of Carragher droning on MNF about the continental style of defending, and Gary Neville just says "Well they're the ones winning World Cups." Discussion over at that point basically.
Jose Mourinho 'I am very pleased that Nemanja is returning to Chelsea. He has grown as a player in Portugal and has become a fantastic all-round midfielder. I am sure he will become a very important member of the squad and help us to achieve our ambitions.'

(Reuters) - Britain's bookmakers were left nursing losses totalling up to 30 million pounds ($49 million) on Tuesday after the top seven teams in English soccer's Premier League all won their latest round of matches.
"This is as bad a weekend as there's ever been," said Ladbrokes spokesman Ciaran O'Brien, while William Hill compared the impact to when jockey Frankie Dettori rode seven winners at a race meeting at Ascot in 1996.
League leaders Arsenal beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Monday night to ensure that all of the leading teams down to Manchester United in seventh place clinched victories.
Bookmakers rely on slip-ups by the favourites - who have the shortest odds but attract the most bets - to help them make money from gamblers.
Ladbrokes estimated that the cost to bookmakers was more than 20 million pounds, while rival Coral put the total bill at 30 million.
"It was another ‘magnificent seven' for football customers over the weekend, with the top seven in the league all hammering the bookmakers with winning results," said William Hill spokeswoman Kate Miller.

We basically sold David Luiz for €50 million, I'm not even mad.

He has the 2nd highest number of assists in his first year of the EPL and he has created the highest percentage of a team's chances in the EPL (I can provide sources if you want). We have gone through a lot and we're still first in the league (albeit barely). Look at our strikers, man. Bendtner is injured and Giroud isn't really on the best of runs we'd want. He had a godly number of assists last season as well. Every game he plays he makes key passes that often lead to chances. Can't help it if he doesn't stand out, he does his job insanely well. His movement off the ball is amazing, his touch is amazing and his passes are amazing. He is subtle, people need to understand that. We don't have Ronaldo or Suarez or anyone of that caliber up front you know.
One thing people forget is that Özil didn't even join Arsenal until September, and that he's still adored by the Real Madrid fans. Plus he obviously gets votes from fans of the German national team, and he is an icon in Turkey and other Islamic nations. Arda Turan and Fatih Terim even had him as their #1 in their Ballon d'Or vote, and many other players and coaches had him as #2 or #3 (like Ronaldo).
And yeah, he's really fucking good. That helps too.
