ronaldinho after his second season in barcelona was steadily journeying towards GOAT status. real sad how he stopped caring enough or whatever happened. henry not getting it then was kinda like ronaldo not getting any for his 55&60 goal seasons. well not entirely true because arsenal was invincible and largely due to henry's credit whereas real didn't actually win that much so going by results then it's a tiny bit different.
still though, sometimes the world's second best player is ridiculously good.

Valdés is beasting it up this new season. Ask any spanish football fan and they will probably tell you he is the best goalie in the world atm xD (and I might even agree). Even the Madrid fans agree he deserves to be on the national team above Casillas or Diego López.
Haven't really seen enough Chelsea to compare. But winning La Liga (with 100 points) and spanish SuperCopa (plus CL semifinals, even if we got destroyed) is better than the Europa League in my book. He also has 5 Zamora Trophies to his name and already looking to get his 6th this year.
So I stand by my choice and let's see if either Valdés or Cech can make it

Szczesny has been solid this season. He's made some great saves to preserve Arsenal's results this season. Did you see the games against Spurs or Marseille?

The problem for la Roma is they don't have such a deep bench compared to Juventus or Napoli. And these 2 teams will probably not make it further than the Round of 16 in the Champions League, so they will be able to focus on the championship. Napoli, unlucky group, and Juventus really not as strong as last years.

Valdes probably gets the most flak because most morons like this one cant forget this gaffe or that gaffee he made in a big game x amount of time ago. as if there is a single goalkeeper on the planet who hasnt made a mistake.
And apparantly its all because of his team and not "inspite" of it.
I always find it funny how some people choose to make barca a decent defense + ball whores when criticizing Valdez and taking credit away, but then go and turn around and shit on barca's defense when they get caught out. Which surprise surprise happens against every freaking team. from Almeria to Munich.

Valdés has always been a beast! This year it feels like he's finally free. He knows he won't have to endure any more critic that always comes when Barça loses a game. And it's no secret that he very much dislike Rosell.
He played a big part in Barça's success in CL (games vs Chelsea, Man. U, Arsenal, etc.) but nobody seems to care about that part, he will always be remembered for his mistakes that, like Rebs mentionned, every GK makes.
He's going to join Monaco so I'll still be able to see him He will be there next year in CL!
Lol Valdes good goal keeper, nope not for me. Show me a game where Barcelona won because of Valdes...there isn't one. Show a game where Cech, Buffon, Casillas, Courtois won games for there teams, there is dozens. Thats international level too, where Valdes has NEVER had a look in for Spain. Diego Lopez keeps Casillas out of the Real Madrid team and Valdes can't even replace him as the Spain keeper even though Casillas isn't playing.
Someone is obviously seeing differences to what you guys are seeing. You will see a huge difference in Barcelona when Valdes leaves, and a huge difference if you replace him with the beast of Courtois, even though i don't think you can afford him ^_^

You should watch some of this season "la liga" matches. He has made Barcelona won many times this last two years, that everyone in Spain say he should be the national team keeper. Some examples of this season:
Week 2: Malaga vs Barcelona (0-1): Valdes saves the team with some awesome saves. Week 3: Valencia vs Barcelona (2-3): Another time. Great saves from Valdes avoid Valencia to tie. Celtic vs Barcelona (0-1): A very hard save from Valdes in minute 70 (link) gives the team the victory.
All this games where won because him this season. Furthermore, he made lot of saves in other matches this season. I think that sometimes people dont watch him play and just blame him. This last two years of "terrible barcelona defenders" (I miss Puyol, he will be my favorite defender forever), he has been saving the team all the time. He is no way worst than Cech.
Terrible defenders isn't why Valdes gets stick, its how weak flimsy he looks. He can't come out and command his area, he never comes to claim a ball from a corner. He just sits on his line and stops a few shots. Other than that he gets beaten way easier than any other top 10 keeper in the world. I know the Valencia saves were pretty good, but he is clearly a standard keeper with shot stopping abilities, but to be a worlds best keeper you need to the rest of the attributes. Dominant in the box, able to use your strength to come and claim the ball in the air. Organize defense too, i know Barca hardly have a defense but surely the keeper should be screaming and shouting at them to actually defend >.<
Like i said, if you don't agree you soon will when Barca sign a decent keeper for next year and if this keeper is a world class one like Courtois then Barca will be so safe in goal they will be able to stop conceding to set pieces for a start, or way less anyway. Also when Valdes leaves and goes to another team who have more than 5 shots at his goal a game he will be shown up more.

Yeah he won't come back to Chelsea (well he will but will be unhappy) unless he is no1 choice. Chelsea don't want to sell him but another year loan at Atletico might happen. He will be no1 at Chelsea soon xD Cech is great though at this moment he hasn't made any mistakes but when he does he knows he has Courtois ready to take his place from him. Be interesting to see what happens next year xD

In answer to this good question my opinion is that of Roma at the moment are the best team in Serie A, they will continue to do so without injuries. Like others said, the Roman team is good, the squad not so much. Totti is out for a bout 2/3 weeks now, so lets see how they do without their talisman. They do have a nice starting 11 though
Also someone else mentioned they are only playing once a week, they have no European commitments so their squad again is not getting that tested physically which helps. I hope they do well, Roma is club with rich history and its nice seeing them back on top in which could Totti's last ever season <3 One of my favorite players of all time.
