Squats: 5/3/1 program. final set: 110kg x 8 new PR.
Attempted a 9th rep but got pinned under the weight so I had to drop that shit on the floor. The owner was in the gym, staring at me – they don't like strength trainers in their fittness club :S

Front squats: 60kg 10 reps x 3

Glute ham raises: 10 reps x 3

Leg presses: 150kg 10 reps x 3

Standing calveraises 10 reps x 3

I always use Weight x Sets x Reps.

Seems more logical to me.

imo it's pretty illogical. lets say you do 3 sets of 5 reps with 100kg, you would write it 100x3x5. assuming the x stands for "times", shouldnt the first number after the weight be the reps? because you lifted 100kg five times, and not three! and then the next number should be number of sets because you did the 100x5 three times! i.e. 100x5x3

but thats just my opinion.

Both ways make perfect sense to me, but in the interest of clarity maybe you could write r and s (for reps and sets respectively) instead of x.

Ok ok 3(100kgx5). Got to follow that Order of Operations.

I don't think it's like a math problem though. Most of the people who like it that way just think of it that way. I don't think in my head, I did 100kg 5 times 3 times. I think I did 100kg for 3 sets of 5 reps. I think it's just linguistics like decaf said but it should be evident either way. It never bothered me

But you if you look at your wording "3 sets of 5" then that's the order for words. If you are speaking you would say you did 3 sets of 5, not 5 reps for 3 sets.

100kg, 3 sets of 5 repetitions per set

if you didnt get a clearcut 100kg 3x5 then you have to write 100kg 5-4-3-5

when decaf/flunkie writes it differently its coz they do oly lifts which are mostly singles

had a guy doing thumbless grip incline bp the other day :o strong AND brave

thursday i finally get internet and can post an update.. i had 13 days without gym but then went the past 6 days in a row. so my overall progress is very little lol -__- goddamn i lose strength quickly. but i am doing chinups now at last and feel pretty awesome. life is way better without a job i will be able to achieve my goals of 100kg bp sq & 60k press by end of the year IF i dont have another 2 weeks off again at any point.

Today:
Squat 1x3 82.5, 102.5, 2x3 125kg
Press 1x3 50, 60, 2-1 70kg PR
Deadlift 1x1 120, 150, 165, 185kg PR

The heavy double on the press is the PR. Slightly disappointed, because I wanted to get triples (which is what I had originally wrote as my goal by September 2013, so I'll probably be getting that "a bit" sooner).

Sunday is Jewish new year, so I'm not sure if I'll manage to get a work out, since the gym closes early, but atleast the dinner should be very good

The only logical way is weightxrepsxsets. I'll explain. When you only do one set of five with 100kg, you'd right 100kgx5. This means you've moved 100 for 5 reps, with the 1 set being implicit. After all, you've done 5 reps. The unknown variable HAS to be one for simplicity's sake, otherwise everybody would be wondering whether you'd done 5 singles or whatever.

The sets is something that added LESS OFTEN, and should therefore be an addendum. Seeing as we read from left to right, from old to young, the sets should be the last in line.

Also fucking Luxae, I just took a deload week. I'll come back at your DL, going for 175x5 in about 3 weeks.
