but still a 5:0 at halftime should be quite impressive, even if the opponent is weak. // tom starke, the first goalkeeper i've ever seen saving the penalty with his head :D

That was a shameful performance from Arsenal, I think. They really got away with that one. That linesman was the man of the match. First half, Arsenal have a million and one chances to score, but fail to capitalize on each of them. To make matters worse, the team looked careless in possession. Way too much time was wasted just passing back and forth between defenders; it looked like the team didn't give a shit and didn't realize there was a football match being played. Then that foul by Gibbs that led to the goal, stupid foul to concede, and even worse defending as everyone fell back to the goal, leaving the front of the box wide open for Turner to make an unmarked header. Obviously now everyone started to care, but they still couldn't break down Norwich's (no one gives them credit, but they are very solid at defending as a unit) defense. Then they get a corner that wasn't even a corner (from the angle they showed on TV, it looked like it went off Ramsey), then Kamara tugs on Giroud's shirt, Giroud goes down a bit dramatically, and the ref doesn't award a penalty, but rather the LINESMAN does a few seconds later. Not a great penalty by Arteta as Bunn got his hand on it, but it went in the net so I'm not complaining. That second goal was a thing of beauty with Ox's give-and-go into the box with Giroud, but the third goal looked like Walcott was offside when he got the ball, which rubs salt in Norwich's wound. That finish from Podolski was pure class btw. But we won, so I guess I should stop complaining. Everton aren't gonna roll over and die on Tuesday like Norwich did.

Pity for Norwich, as there shouldn't have been a corner in the first place, but there's no doubt there should have been a penalty for me. Kamara clearly holds Giroud back by tugging on his shirt and brings him down. Rightly given, although it was funny that the ref let it go until he saw the linesman signal for it. Guess he had a bad angle. It's good that we won, but we didn't really deserve it. At least we can edge out wins like this now. A couple of years ago that would have ended 0-1. Just hope Wilshere can get back in shape, because he looked terrible today. And keep Gervinho away from the starting 11, Mr Wenger.

Pukki crosses cleverly in front of Toprak, it's basically impossible not to have a contact here (the fault was to allow Pukki in that position in the first place) - maybe you saw Frankfurt-Bayern last week, Bayern got a very similar penalty with Müller crossing Russ' way and just slowing down a bit. Still, I think the red card was too harsh. I'm very certain that Toprak did not commit the foul on purpose to stop Pukki. But here we are back at the everlasting discussion whether such a foul should give a red card in addition to the penalty, or not (I guess, technically, he was the last defender and as such it is ruled as a red card). Contact by itself shouldn't be grounds for a PK. There was contact because Pukki's foot connected with the defender's leg when it kicked up. Going down because of that is a dive, no matter which way you slice it.

One could use your point of view to argue that it wasn't a foul (which is my opinion too), but at least for me a dive is a move in which you do not even have any contact whatsoever with the defender. This might or might not be in accordance with the rules formally; I dont't know. However, I guess one does not want to start arguing whether the contact was strong enough or whatever to get the player out of balance or not. Alright, not a dive, but embellishment with the same intent. That crap should warrant a yellow card. No mercy for pussies like that. Takes away a lot of integrity from the game.
